According to MTV, George Clooney has signed on to star opposite Robert De Niro in the upcoming remake of 36 Quai des Orfevres.

The film, which will be directed by Marc Forster from a script by Dean Georgaris, focuses on two detectives and a quest to solve a series of armored car robberies with a promotion going to whomever catches the perpetrators.

The film will be distributed by Paramount and should begin filming in New York later this year.

KJ's Take:  Blah.  I've never been a huge Clooney fan and I don't enjoy much of De Niro's work either.  I'll probably pass.

I can't tell if your comment is sarcasm. Is it me or is the Mania staff a little more outspoken then the Cinescape staff? Anyway, Clooney and DeNiro are big blockbuster bucks, so whether KJ goes to see this or not, I'm sure it'll be big, Big, BIG!

No sarcasm. I find Clooney's films to be rather hit or miss and De Niro's work is mostly miss.

WhenI was reading this artical, I immediately started thinking of the movie Heat. Which I think was a great movie. I always enjoy De Niro films. I'm sure I'll have to take the wife to see this one.

I saw the french movie, it's stars Gerard Depardieu and Daniel Auteuil. Good, not great. But still worth watching.
And Cinesc... I mean MANIA, should give the people a better description of the movie. The whole armed car robberies it's a sub-plot to build the main one, wich is the story of this two competing cops, who used to be friends, and how greed makes one ruin the other one's life. It's more of drama than anything else.

At first glance, I thought this was going to be a spoof of "24."

Nevertheless, I'll probably toss this onto the old Netflix queue.

Why is the KJ's take in the news at all? Shouldn't you be adding your personal thoughts here where we all vent and express our views? Keep the facts separated from the opinions. Just my thoughts on that. Besides, I have never really known anyone to not like Robert Deniro in any of his flicks... You didn't like Ronin, or even Midnight Run?

I'm a big fan of both, so I'll probably see this. As far as KJ's opinion, I'm fine with it, as long as he continues to set it apart as his opinion and doesn't try to pass it off as part of the news story. After all, we get to have our say here. Would you rather he pose as one of the rabble and leave a comment like everyone else?

Deniro's movies are great. Plain and simple there's a couple stupid ones but the Majority of his movies Kick ass !. George Cloony is a good actor and im sure this will be a great movie.

I have to agree with Scoxocs. I realize the article writers will opine if they wish, but I really don't need it. I'd prefer a genre news site that reports the news, and lets us comment. But this is the nature of all "news" these days. More opinion and less objective reporting.

I don't mind writer's comments along with news stories, but not if it's an opinion piece. If they want to flavor up the story with their personal touch, that's fine, but to give an opinion like this just seems wrong to me. Writers should be a bit more neutral when it comes to their opinions. Regardless of my opinion on this, I have to say that the quality of the writers on this site is pretty poor. I'm constantly noticing typos, incorrect facts and poor grammar. And this is coming from somebody that used to WORK for the magazine back in its hayday. And no, I have no bad feelings for the magazine - I left on my own to pursue other interests. At the time I was still a big fan and even subscribed to it. It went downhill fast, and even faster when it changed to Mania. Oh, well. Good thing there are other sites to read about entertainment news.
