George Lucas talked with the Associated Press on Wednesday about his upcoming animated STAR WARS TV series, saying that the show could air as early as next year even though he has not sold it to a network yet.

The series is set during the time when the Republic is fighting a civil war against separatists led by Count Dooku. The mythic period hasn't been dealt with too much in the popular STAR WARS movies, so "it's a fun place to go," Lucas said.

"It basically has all the main characters," continued Lucas, but the stars who played them on the big screen won't return to lend their voices for the show.

Killer. Hope it's just like 'Clone Wars'. Luved it. Great action and not as much blah, blah, blah as the movies.

Agreed.
I've thrown expectations out the window and hope that this is just great action and fun to watch.

Clone Wars will be pretty hard to top and was superb on a number of levels.

I'd be interested to see Dooku's back story, the "Gentleman Sith", but as browbeat says, some expectations are best left defenestrated.

I m just wondering if we are going to see Jar Jar...cuz man it would be great...jk...yeah as long its on par with Clone Wars, it should be good, good enought to add another wing it USC...i m kidding, it was nice of George to do that....

I hope it's nothing like the Clone Wars animated show. I like much less action and more story- and charakter development for the series instead!
And please... no longer that crappy "Samurai Jack" design.

before i was interrupted here at work, i was going to say the same about the character desing...i didnt like that look either, i just like the fact we were seing SW Clone Wars stories, but i could barely tolerate the look....what happend to good ol fashion animation?...like the way they messed my other (off topic) cartoon, the new Transformers....

Yes you are right they anhiliated any hope of a good return with the last show(speaking about transformers) With their mouth in a heart shepe when thy were shy and stuff. Really baby like Sailor mon crap. And, the samourai jack look suits for Samourai Jack and the power puff girl and other Nikelodeon shows. Not for S-W. Do it in 3d for sake. They have so much location done already. Some filters in post here and there render style and quality different change the lighting to match the newer look and your there. Even though they are making most of these show in 3d but in end tehy aply a cartoon like filter that make them look 2d. I spit on this. Make this real cool 3d. 3d like in Reboot...joking but you get the point.

majorbludd, the reason studios don't go back to the traditonal animation (a la Transformers) is mainly because they want to attract today's generation. Granted adults watch them also, however not as much. We have jobs and some of us kids, and these distractions prevent us from watching continuously everyday. However, kids, and we did this too when we were young, will sit and watch and even know by the sound of the music on the credits of the show before the cartoon starts when their show will start. Also kids today probably wouldn't recognize what kind of car Bumblebee was or why Soundwave had "those cassette tape things" coming out of him. Oh, but this star wars will be computer animated, so it will probably be a once a week show.

One more thing, if you ever go back and watch a GI Joe cartoon, the animation is so freakin terrible because they used 10 - 15 frames per second as opposed to the traditional 30 to cut costs. Voltron was the same way. And now you know, and knowing is half the battle, YOOOOOOOOOOOOO JOOOOOOOOEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It'll suck, plastic whore Lucas strikes again, I hated Clone Wars. The character design, the herky jerky animation was just awful. It worked for Samurai Jack for Clone wars it was just irritating. Anything Lucas puts on film is a extended ad for the toy companies. Lucas should sit down, shut up, and count his money. He's a one trick poney who should be put out to pasture.
