George Lucas Talks INDY 5

Reporters have asked the same question to leading Harrison Ford, Shia LaBeouf and director Steven Spielberg these past few months on the possibility of a fifth adventure. Ford and Spielberg said they would love to come back so it's not strange that someone would ask the same question to Indy creator and executive producer George Lucas. While at the Cannes Film Festival, Fox News' Roger Friedman asked George on the possibility of a 5th Indiana Jones---with the fourth Indiana Jones hitting theaters this week---sometime in the near future.

Lucas said he was open to the idea and had thought about putting Shia more in the spotlight.

"I haven't even told Steven or Harrison this," he told Friedman. "But I have an idea to make Shia [LaBeouf] the lead character next time and have Harrison [Ford] come back like Sean Connery did in the last movie. I can see it working out."

The same thoughts are happening over at Universal, according to the rumor mill, in regards to newcomer Luke Ford taking the top spot in possible future Mummy films.

Well, there goes another good series. I was hoping for a second Indy trilogy, but not like this.

With Shia the up-and-coming profile actor, this is merely confirmation to what some suspected a while back. But hey, IF they can make fun, enjoyable flicks, sure - go ahead.

man, i would have smile at George saying 'no this is it' if i knew this was the other choice. Myabe Shia will say, "i don't want to do a trilogy. i want to be a serious actor now, Transformers and Jones was just my stepping stone." ..... i know. not going to hapen is it?

I was afraid of this all along. They should leave well enough alone and exit with this one. I know not many people want to see Shia with the whip it just won't be the same and I doubt most people would embrace it, he's too young. If you're dead set to do a 5th then do it with Ford and exit gracefully, so you don't look like a bunch of greedy f....ers who can't come up with fresh ideas and are just like everyone else trying to squeeze every penny out of the few good ideas you had, IMHO.

Yeah, right... it's not Lucas... it's Spielberg the evil genious. He vil take our money (say it with a vampire accent).

If Mutt was the main character, then it wouldn't be a 5th Indy movie, would it? It would be a spin-off. Anyway, I think they should just go out on top with this movie. Everyone's jacked to see it. It looks great. Just bow out gracefully.

Oh, and I'm guessing that if Mutt's around for a spin-off, there's no chance he'll die in this movie, huh? Kind of takes some of the tension out of any danger scenes...

That could end up being a good move which would allow the Indy universe to expand. Only if Indy IV works out and Mutt works as a main character. I have never been a huge fan of remaking movies but I enjoy and like the idea when they continue the story line. If this next movie is just okay, then Lucas and company should leave it alone and try focusing on something new and different.
