Ghost Rider Maquette

Sideshow Collectibles and Marvel have released images of their Ghost Rider Maquette, based on designs from the upcoming major motion picture. Under the supervision of Creative Director Tom Gilliland, the Sideshow creative team studied the conceptual artwork created from the film, and together with sculptor Ray Villafane, translated the conceptual designs into a fully realized sculptural artwork. The prototype was finished with Tom's paintwork, detailing and enhancing the sculpted leather, bone, and fire.

The Ghost Rider Maquette is in approximately 1:5 scale and stands roughly 17 inches tall. Each piece is hand cast and hand painted to exacting standards. Real metal details and chain have been utilized to complete the piece, and the flames are cast in a translucent material. Each piece will be packed in a durable molded foam interior for safe shipment, and packaged inside a beautiful full color box.

The figure will ship in the fourth quarter of 2006. It will carry a price tag of $199.99.

$hi+... Maybe I should start making maquettes. I could undercut their prices and sell them for a hundred bucks a pop and still make a killing. I certainly don't think they'd look any worse.

You guys have no idea what it takes to make these things. TONS of work PLUS a very high cost to license the merchandise from Marvel. Throw in the materials and labor to cast and paint each piece plus shipping overseas. So making your own is not possible unless you got Daddy Warbucks in your pocket. NOW taking all of that into consideration, these compaines that make these on a regular basis make a killing on them so I don't see why they cannot keep the prices below 150. Good old American greed, that is why.

Funny, can't you just picture Nicolas Cage in that pose?..

I think think this looks really good. I just can't justify or afford dropping $200 US on it. How much longer before the movie is being made?

At least it's a helluva lot better than that crappy Sonny Crockett action figure!
