According to the new ET Canada show, with a direct interview with Dan Akroyd, the script for G3 is done, it's called Ghostbusters in Hell, and they want Ben Stiller for it.

Ben Stiller may star in new Ghostbusters movie
November 8, 2005

Ben Stiller is being lined up to star in a new Ghostbusters movie. The comic actor is wanted by movie bosses to appear in the long-awaited third instalment of the popular '80s series by the film's director Harold Ramis.

Ramis admits he is keen for Stiller to join Dan Aykroyd and Rick Moranis, who both starred in the original movies opposite Bill Murray, in the sequel Ghostbusters In Hell because he is a "huge fan" of his work.

Aykroyd is also writing the script for the film which will see the
paranormal investigators transported to a parallel dimension from New York.

Ramis revealed: "What Dan had originally conceived was sending the characters to a special effects hell - a netherworld of mad visual

environments. But what worked so well about the first two films was how it was all so mundane.

"When the Ghostbusters step out of this portal, it looks just like New York but it's hell. No cars are moving and all the drivers are swearing at each other in different foreign languages. All the worst things about modern urban life - just magnified."

It is not yet known if Murray will reprise his role as Dr Peter Venkman in the new movie or whether Sigourney Weaver will appear again as his love interest, Dana Barrett.

Just add new people in it and have one of the old team appear in it. It would launch a brand new team, instead of rehashing it with old jokes and old faces.

Honestly the only way a sequel would work is if you had the original foursome training a new breed of Ghostbusters so to speak and cast relatively unknowns as the new breed so those characters didnt overpower the originals popularity but still were funny and watchable

In the Game Informer interview with Dan Aykroyd he pretty much says there is not going to be a GB3 movie, but that he and Harold Ramis wrote the script for the game (as they did the movies as well). He says that regardless of whatever title the game recieves, it is GB3 in spirit.
