G.I. Joe 3 Green-lighted

More GI JOE for Paramount

By Robert T. Trate     April 01, 2013
Source: Variety.com

Variety is reporting that Paramount has green-lighted a sequel to G.I. Joe Retaliation. This is a logical movie has G.I. Joe Retaliation scored the second highest Easter Weekend ever. Variety reported that “Retaliation outdid its predecessor by 35% globally, thanks in no small part to the 3D upcharge. If “Retaliation” continues to keep that same lead (and it could), the film will land in the ballpark of $410 million worldwide. “Cobra” grossed $303 million globally”.

There is no word yet on who would star in the sequel, but count on Snake Eyes and 3D glasses as definites. What do you think Maniacs, are you ready for more G.I. Joes?

Bring it baby

I'm not well schooled on the Joes since I never followed them faithfully in any format but I'm told there were tons of them so even with all the ones killed I'm sure they can come up with more.

I'd assume the main 4 from this film would return too.

Maybe they can work in Fumbles somehow into the story

Yeah they have used maybe 10% of the cast so far. God help them if they go the Serpentor route. That was a CF from hell.

Awesome. They need to include more characters, at least as Easter Eggs. They also need to pick and choose who is best for the missions. Not just go with whoever is left.

I agree with Moonsunne, I would love to see more of them since there are so many... small cameo bits are just fine with me. They did that well With Resolute.

I thought the movie was so-so and it was horribly directed / edited and filmed.  Other then the mountain scene with Snake Eyes and Stormshadow, all the fight scenes were close ups, and all I could see was blurs of light.  Sorry, this movie left me grouchy...even a day later.

Fumbles or Trouser Snake?

I think they made sure not to show Duke's body to try and get him back. Apparently audiences loved the Rock/Tatum chemistry but it didn't last long. If they want to do a second go at it, resign Tatum.

Agree with Serpentor being a CF. That was GiJoe jumping the shark for me. Although I don't read the new IDW series, apparently, they changed his origin to make it more "realistic" and instead, he is a religious zealot who worships a Serpent god instead of being a clone of historical conquerors.

anyone else but me wonder what scenes were "added" for Channing Tatum? Dude had like 3 minutes screen time

momitchell7 4/1/2013 11:00:43 AM

Movie Guy -  I think it's those three minute that were addeed. Actually, I would bet that it was the scenes with Roadblocks daughters at the beginning. It was an easy to shoot scene that only involved two characters basically sitting on a couch - building chemistry.

and the cupcake shooting scene. Their uniforms changed from the mission they just completed, to this scene, back to to the same uniforms when they get attacked.

Shogunn2517 4/1/2013 11:32:12 AM

I also think the entire beginning sequence was added.  Anyone else think DeRay Davis' character should have been Heavy Duty, at least as an Easter egg instead of that failure of a first movie?  Maybe not...

Anyway, there's a lot they can do with the sequel.  I don't care if they have a Rock/Tatum buddy movie... Maybe not.

Just stay completely away from some international, Exo-Squad, robotic, futuristic, George Jetson crap.  It's GI Joe.  Act like it.
