Thats a pretty bad ass scene... I just hope they didn't give us the biggest money shot scene in the whole movie... I can't wait!

it was ok, but somehow with Dwayne Johnson involved, I'm willing to bet the most action will involve him and not duchebag lameass Tatum.

Yeah I'm looking forward to this but I have a few questions.  What ninja wears leather and metalic belt clips?  Aren't they trying to be stealthy?  Doesn't leather make noise?  And what's up with the fact that Snake-Eyes is shooting the shurikens but can't hit Storm Shadow?

It was a pretty good scene otherwise.  Gotta suspend disbelief in this one a little more then normal I'm thinking though.

@Higgy

Snake Eyes did not start out as a ninja when the Joe toyline was ressurected in the early 80s. Larry Hama was given a picture of the "Commando" of the team, by Hasbro designer  Ron Rudat. Larry created the bio for him (like all characters) for his action figure file card. All it said about Snake Eyes is that he was an expert in many forms of martial arts and edged weapons. No mention of ninjatsu. When Hama started to write the Joe comic series, Snake Eyes did not have the Arishkage symbol or ninja weapons. He had his UZI and beat up people in hand to hand combat. So having him use projectile weapons in this sticks with the core of the character. Not only a ninja, but a badass in infantry. It was only about 2-3 years in the Joe line/comics, that he made him a ninja with the classic Silent Interlude.

Speaking of Larry Hama. I have been very vocal on some Gi Joe posts here about his NYC Premiere snub. He had posted on facebook how disappointed he was to not even get a ticket. A lot of his fans (including me) posted comments (some civil) on Jon Chu's facebook page. And he read them! Chu contacted Paramount and Hama got to see the premiere. Power to social media and diehard fans!

Anyhow, Larry posted a small review of his screening. Looks good in his books.

I liked RETALIATION a lot. Vast improvement over ROC. Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow are much more up front, and the whole thing is a lot more character-driven. Not only is there no sinking ice, but the big finale involves physical action wi...th people rather than choreography of CGI vehicles. The Rock is perfect as Roadblock, and Bruce Willis's take on Joe Colton is brill (he has some of the best lines.) There's no sign of Scarlett, but the actress who plays Lady Jaye is quite good. Jinx is amazing. Flint is kind of meh. Overall, the direction is terrific and crisp. I can tell what is going on all the time, and everything LOOKS great. Ninja fight sequence in the mountains is amazing, in that you never lose track of what is happening, and there's a ton of fast visual input. Is there stuff I didn't like? That would be quibbling. The positive outweighs the negative here. And I walked out feeling that the characters had been treated with respect.

Higgy

 think it's clear from the video that Snake Eyes was trying to capture not kill Storm Shadow.

I like the positive review from Hama... Good work ElBaz and thanks for posting!

Hudson, you're right about them trying to capture SS and not kill him. I love the little love tap that Snake Eyes gives to Strom Shadow after he's out - great, yet subtle comedic touch!

TheMovieGuy28 3/21/2013 12:55:23 PM

 I am not watching this scene. Holding out hopes that it goes great in the theaters. I want it to be fun

Higgy 3/21/2013 1:40:12 PM

Yeah you're right Hudson...that makes sense.

Elbaz, I know all about G.I.Joe.  I was speaking about Storm Shadow, not Snake-eyes.  He's wearing leather with a metalic belt clip.  I know it's just for show, but it just seems funny that a ninja is wearing leather.  In most ninja movies they wear cloth with a cloth belt.  Even in the comics Storm Shadow wears cloth.  I just found it humorous.

Wow, that was freaking awesome.  Looking forward to this.

@ElBaz13, thanks for the info, the fact that Hama liked it makes me feel a lot better, i've been worried since it was pulled for "re-shoots".
