The first one was pretty good.  The second one was friggin' awesome!  JCVD played a great villain.  Considering the second was better than the first, I'm hoping this one is another step up.  Bring it on, Sly!

And, mlaforce.  I love ya, bro.  But you're wrong on this one.  If you don't like the movies that's fine, but if you're complaining because these movies have no "depth" and lack of a great screenplay then I think you missed the point of these movies.  Even before the first one was released Sly came out and admitted as much.  Don't be such a negative Nancy and just have fun with the rest of us!

@Tevii...Ya he did for Rocky in 1976 is one of the greatest boxing movies ever, it won 3 academies out of 10, Oh how long ago that was...Great Rocky movies, First Blood was awesome but oh how long ago that was...If you don't like me being negative about the larger amount of his body work, how about GO F*CK YOURSELF!!! Now that is being Negative...An opinion deals with all kinds of things good, bad or what ever...Being negative for nothing?  STFU!!!

@Elbogg...Did I say I was looking for depth in an action flick written by Stallone? No, I simply said the first one was mindless shit! IMO I thought is was a sh*tty action flick trying to capatalize on the popularity of a bunch of washed up ex action stars...I see you have not seen the second one yet, well after it has come out do doubt, your sub-concious must have something to do with that, it's trying to tell you it does not want to sit through 2 hours non sense and loud f*cking noise...

All being personal opinions by the way and if either of you don't like it, to f*cking bad... hey, I have a great idea, let me bounce my balls off your chins...

As much as I disagree with miaforce, we should not condemn him for expressing his opinion.   That being said you should check out the second one.  It was predictable, but fun.

That's funny...Mania will not let me post on the matter any more, at least not what I want to post...

mlaforce 8/13/2013 1:10:55 PM

To each there own, I guess that is what I should have stated in the first place...

mlaforce 8/13/2013 1:12:53 PM

@VTGame...from one hetero to another, back at ya brother...

@Chance...I might just do that, the first one is why I did not watch the second one...So maybe I might just net flix it and see what's up

I guess I'm of a different mind than other folk. While I enjoyed the 2nd film, I actually don't think it was better than the first one. Just felt like they forced too much in that film. I thought the story was weaker, it had less of a lasting impression on me. Check out the director's cut of the first film, it had more weight and substance than you might expect. That being said, I did enjoy JCVD and Lundgren in the 2nd film. It was still fun, just not as memorable as the first film for me.

I grew up watching these guys in great mindless action flicks and sometimes that's all I want to watch nowadays, but the flicks these men were known for became quite awful in recent times. The new action stars couldn't hold a candle to the ones featured in these films. Stallone knows this and brought back the fun action films that many of us missed. There's nothing wrong with that. The man knows about branding and that is what hollywood is, you sell a brand. Tom Cruise has practically become an institution on his own and movies are built on his brand. There is nothing wrong with Stallone wanting to cobble together some over-the-hill (albeit still badass) aging action stars for a last go-around. These films, while certainly not Godard, were a last ditch effort for some of these dudes to get together and cause havoc. Yes, many of them wanted one last chance to remain relevant and there is nothing wrong with that. Better to be paid for making semi-bad, yet enjoyable films than to not be working at all. If you want to understand why these actors who took these films, read Roger Moore's autobiography My Word Is My Bond. He pretty much explains that actors simply go where the work is, whether it is good or bad, you take what is offered and collect your pay.

I, for one, am glad that these films exists as one of my childhood favorites, Dolph Lundgren, is back making films. I always thought he was underrated, even as an actor. He played a great villain in the first Universal Soldier. Plus the dude really does have a Master's Degree from MIT in Chemical Engineering. Instant respect from me.

I can't wait for Mel Gibson to call Milla Jojovich "sugar tits".

The plot of the movie is The Expendables get together once again to stop Gibson's war against the Jews.

This movie isn't meant to be good writing, it's meant to be blow em up, shoot em up, 80's style action movies. The plots always suck, of course, but they are fun as hell to watch. I'm pretty sure Stallone confirmed at least Snipes. I could have done without Gibson though, but Banderas will be awesome. I also heard a while back they were bringing back JCVD to play like his "good" twin brother or something and I would be excited as hell to see that because I have always like JCVD and his part in 2 wasn't good enough for him I think. He did a great job though. I am looking forward to 3 for sure.
