Giger, Scott Reteam for ALIEN Prequel

Alien Prequel has H.R. Giger and Ridley Scott reteam.

It looks like original Alien designer H.R. Giger and franchise producers will be reuniting once again on the silver screen. It's been relatively quiet on 20th Century Fox's planned prequel to their classic Alien tale, which has director Ridley Scott returning to helm a set-up to his 1979 classic adventure. But franchise favorite website AvPGalaxy reports a confirmation of sorts has occurred between Giger's camp and the studio, with the former's wife revealing via a German newszine that the original creator is returning to the franchise.

For his part, returning director Ridley Scott unleashed some tidbits to fans on what to expect from the story and the long-awaited reports as to whether it relates to the "Space Jockey" from the first installment.

"It's set in 2085, about 30 years before Sigourney [Weaver's character Ellen Ripley]. The film (Fox suggests "Films") will be really tough, really nasty," says Scott of the proposed two-part prequel. "It's the dark side of the moon. We are talking about gods and engineers. Engineers of space. And were the aliens designed as a form of biological warfare? Or biology that would go in and clean up a planet?"

Whatever scenario occurs to fans, there's not going to be any disagreement between original "Alien" designer H.R. Giger and producers.

Great to hear about Giger!  Now, as for the Alien being created, by whom?  Humans or other aliens?  Engineers?  I guess it could go both ways, but I assume it will be humans.  I can't wait to start seeing pictures / clips.

Yeah, looking forward to hearing more also RedHood.

I for one hope the "engineers" are not humans but maybe part of the same race the "space jockey" belonged to which it's fair to say is not human. I can see them being the engineers and being destroyed by their own creation.

Me too Wise.  That would be something different if they go the 'Space Jockeys' route.

Boring............. lol who cares where they came from .   Like the new video game coming out Colonial Marines make another movie based on Aliens and bring in a new group of Marines . Their can't be more then one colony of humans out there , there has to be other planets out there that the humans have settled on.  We'll maybe one of those planets have an aliens problem and has to send in the bad ass marines to come take care of business.

Either that or have the earth war series.

"The film will be really tough, really nasty."

This is getting me excited! That's what's been missing from the latest sequels.

Stop making them, come up with something new..Aliens was the peak.

To me it's like being in a band, you can write orginals or do covers, or do tunes from your band you were in before this one. Covers are ok, it's what the people want, and theres nostalgia about your old music from your previous band, so you wanna play those too incase someone didn't get to hear it back in the day. I think originals are the way to go. You're a songwriter (in this case movie maker) write something new! If more people thought this way we wouldn't have The Unforgiven II....or any  "squeakwals"....Yes Chipmunks, I'm looking at you.

Giger...Engineers of space ,gods, and really nasty!!! This all gets me giddy as a schoolgirl! I'm hoping these movies are as cool as my imagination is making them.

Supposedly, the "Space Jockeys" are ones behind the Aliens.  I hope the script changes because there is supposed to be a scene where the Space Jockeys telepathically make a guy rape another guy.

Wiseguy 12/20/2010 8:55:40 AM

Hey, what do you have against guy on guy rape? :) Maybe that's what they meant by "really tough, really nasty" comment.
