Doctor Who fans suffered a huge blow this weekend as the current Doctor, Mat Smith, announced his exit from the show. Well another member of the Doctor Who cast will be returning to our collective geek culture, but this time she won’t be one of the heroes on on screen. She’ll be one of the villains. Karen Gillan (know to Whovians as Amy Pond) has been cast as one of the villains in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy. What is also interesting is that Lee Pace has been officially cast. We are still waiting on who he will play and wether or not John C. Reilly will be cast in the film. Here is the word on Gillan:
“The Scottish actress will play a villain in the comic book-based movie — no more details have been revealed about her character. Lee Pace (Pushing Daisies) and Michael Rooker (The Walking Dead) will also play villains. Chris Pratt (Zero Dark Thirty) is set to play the lead, Star Lord. Prepping for a late June production start, Guardians of the Galaxy is scheduled for an Aug. 1, 2014 release date”. - EW
Still a few parts to be cast. Most notably Groot and Rocket Raccoon.
So Maniacs, are you ready to see Gillan in another science fiction piece?
