Columbia Wants a Sci-Fi BATTLE - Apr 11, 2008 - 06:11pm
Actually when I read this, I was surprised the people over at fox didn't buy out the story and try to slot it with an Independance Day II tag. Think about it, they could have just use some of the designs they had from ID4 and maybe cut production costs. But I guess that wouldn't work because there is nothing left of LA.
Bet the producers of this scholck try to send a script over to Wil Smith with a $40 mill check stapled to the cover.
VALKYRIE Taking on Jason Voorhees - Apr 08, 2008 - 06:52am
Maybe this will encompass reshoots to show the handi-capped SS officer, played by Kevin Spacey, was behind it the whole time.
VALKYRIE Taking on Jason Voorhees - Apr 08, 2008 - 04:31am
I think this is a troubling development for the film. An October release gives a film some momentum for an Oscar run. The fact that this gets delayed till February maybe means it isn't good enough to even try.
Yeah February is where releases go to die.
SAINTS ROW 2 Has A Release Date - Apr 07, 2008 - 10:33am
I am anticipating this more than GTA as well. The main reason was the cliff hanger you are left with at the end of the original saints.
I liked saints row because of the ability to customize everything, including the paint on the cars and the fact that we had an actual targetting system.
Still gonna buy GTA4 at the end of this month, by August, I will be out of stuff to do in GTA and be ready for some Mayhem missions in Saints Row. I just hope it doesn't suck
McConaughey Is the New MAGNUM P.I? - Apr 03, 2008 - 07:41am
I was about to say Selleck as Higgins would be cool.
I just looked up magnum pi on wikipedia, they have the rest of the cast as listed on imdbpro. Steve Zahn plays rick,Tyrese Gibson plays TC and William H. Macy would play Higgins. Then again, it IS wikipedia, so take it for what it's worth.
Kurt Wimmer Preparing METAL GEAR SOLID? - Mar 13, 2008 - 05:50pm
Big boss was a soldier in the vietnam war, right? His DNA was the basis for the whole project Snake was involved in.
That would easily make Russel perfect for the roll of Solid Snake. As for the Snake roll, you gotta ask who reminds you of kurt russel, since I think Snake Plisskin was the inspiration for the MGS Snake. I still think Kurt could pull it off, but I am not sure he is in the mood for another action film.
DEATHLY HALLOWS Split into Two Films - Mar 12, 2008 - 05:36pm
I'd rather they roll out the cash cow rather than giving us a craptacular "cliff notes" version the last few movies have been. Admittedly, I was glad they excluded SPEW from the last film, it still felt like the last three movies were just there to remind me of the good parts of the book.
Oh and it would be nice if the battle of Hogwarts actually took at least a third of the last film.
Joker's Girlfriend, Superman Returns & Beyond! - Feb 29, 2008 - 07:02am
I really hope The Nexest Last Starfighter" moves out of development hell and on to the screen for no other reason than to be able to play the video game on a 360 or PS3.
They could even bring in a little product placement with the last starfighter. Instead of a signal from space, the next centauri can just look up gamertags on the internet.....cuts down on his distribution costs.
First Glimpse at New WOLVERINE - Feb 14, 2008 - 10:05am
Now, it may be trivial on my part, but I thought the biggest mistake of the first movie was putting a wrestler with limited acting ability into the role of Sabertooth. I thought his greatest weapon against Wolverine was getting under his skin so that wolverine would just go berserk and Creed could make short work of him. Anyway, I kinda wanted to hear a little more arrogant needling from Sabertooth and fewer growls.
Let's hope this film gets it right.
Gilliam's PARNASSUS Shut Down for Now - Jan 23, 2008 - 05:08pm
Terry Gilliam is one of those directors who's work I hate the first time I see it....then I come back, and I come back. The films stick in my head enough that they grow on me. I really hope this doesn't tarnish his chances at making more films. The hollywood gods are unforgiving and it doesn't take much for the suspicious types to start to steer clear of the director of 2 failed projects. That would be a shame. With all the pop bubblegum cookie cutter films out there, gilliam is a breath of fresh air....at least after I stop hating the film..
Heath Ledger is a true loss to film. While his body of work is impressive, I still think there was a role in him that would have put him over the top. Brokeback Mountain established him critically. Joker would have helped him comercially. I can only imagine what work he still had in him. What would have happened if he was put on a scorsese film, or a cohen bros film, etc. No we will get stuck with leonardo dicaprio in those roles.
New BEOWULF Trailer Online - Sep 21, 2007 - 04:59pm
Uncanny Valley here we come.
If you are unfamiliar with the term, look it up on wikipedia. Pretty interesting when you consider movies.
Pitt & Norton Reunite For STATE OF PLAY - Sep 12, 2007 - 09:47pm
Fight club is in my top 10 of movies too.. This should be good given how well they work off each other.
This is your life and it's ending one minute at a time.
Stephen Sommers Not Up For GI JOE - Aug 15, 2007 - 09:52am
I wouldn't want to see Michael Bay doing this. I think the guy that would be cool (Ain't gonna happen) but James Cameron would have made an awesome director for GI Joe (Hope he is a huge fan of the cartoon?)
Hell the Marines from Aliens are the kind of bad asses I would see the Joe team as being.
Warner's Goes for SHANNARA Series - Jun 06, 2007 - 08:48am
how many fantasy series out there follow the Tolkien formula? How many console RPGs? In any case I am just looking forward to seeing the battle between the elves and the demons. I just hope the scriptwriters forgo the "Dramatic speech right before a big battle given by the character whose arc took them from careless adventurer to a great leader of men" cliche.
SIMS Moving to Big Screen - May 25, 2007 - 12:44pm
Oh I know, it is a movie about a man who starves to death because it takes him 4 hours to cook and eat a meal. I'm sure it will do fine...they can just get Uwe Boll to direct it.
JERICHO Falls? - May 16, 2007 - 10:13am
The show fell like a rock because it went on hiatus when it was getting momentum. That might work on Heroes which had a cult like following from the beginning, not so much on a serialized show that is slow building to something. In my opinion, if you have a serialized show, time the beginning so that you can have a straight run for the show. This will help stop people from finding other shows to watch. And while your at it, do not have the show go on hiatus just so that it comes back when American Idol is in full swing.
Tom Hanks returning for "Angels & Demons"? - Apr 11, 2007 - 11:33am
A&D was much better in my opinion. It had a quicker pace and better puzzles. Da vinci actually disappointed me because it kinda felt like a slower rehash of A&D. This film will have plenty of controversy with how the church is portrayed in it. On that note, I do think the book will translate well because the book had a much better mystery that kept you guessing to the end.
George Lucas talks "Indiana Jones 4" - Apr 06, 2007 - 11:42am
I like Howard the Duck.....then again, I usually have the sound turned down and only watch the parts where Lea Thompson looked especially good. She was hot in that pic.
Nice Job Browbeat. Too bad you would get into trouble with lucas if you were to animate the whole radio drama in Flash.
Susan Sarandon and John Goodman join "Speed Racer" - Apr 02, 2007 - 06:53pm
All due respect to the source material, isn't this kind of a step down for Sarandon given her body of work? I don't know, it just surprises me she is in this one.
Sarah Michelle Gellar joins "The Dark Knight"? - Mar 30, 2007 - 02:41pm
Maybe she would be in just a cameo role as Selina Kyle (Pre-catwoman) After Halle Berry's take on that, I am not sure many actresses would want to be associated with the role.
Then again, the Batman comment might have just been a polite brush-off by her agent to get rid of the indie guy and get him to stop calling.
Michael Bay's "2012: The War for Souls" gets a plot - Mar 19, 2007 - 11:54am
Yay! I was wondering when they were going to make a movie version of Sliders. That series was really good and the.....this isn't the Sliders movie? Oh, nevermind then.
Spoilers for "Heroes" - Mar 13, 2007 - 11:54am
I am rabidly awaiting the April 23rd epsiode. I can already tell the season ending cliffhanger (If there is one) is really going to piss me off. But I digress...
Nikki makes sense as being Lindeman's daughter. All these little pieces seem to fit in together. Those 2 being related just makes a lot of sense. The same would go for Parkman, that means that may be the 3 of them are related which would add an extra dimension to when Parkman and Nikki fought the first time.
As for Lindeman's power, I could almost see him as a professor X where his mental powers are far superior to Parkman's. It would explain how it is that Lindeman has his fingers in everything. It would also end up making sense that parkman is in his lineage.
I guess I will just have to keep an eye on the primatech paper website to maybe get clues on what is upcoming.
"Transformers" Rated R? - Mar 09, 2007 - 09:27am
I am in agreement with godsonfilm, the interesting thing in this story is that Spielberg is able to get the rating on one film changed without a single cut. That kind of power is impressive.
I'm hoping this means the action is intense.
Next "Rambo" film has a new title - Feb 21, 2007 - 11:28am
I guess it's not just hard work that get's him in shape. The news out of Australia is disheartening to say the least....however, it's not surprising.
Anna Nicole Smith dead at 39 - Feb 09, 2007 - 11:56am
I think the greatest tragedy will be her daughter, her brother dies 3 days after she is born, her mother 5 months later. When she gets older, she will see how much of a train wreck her mother's life was and who knows what kind of household she is going to be growing up in? At this point, she will probably be looking forward to being raised by a photographer or a lawyer. One can only hope one of them will be able to raise her in a loving environment.
I certainly hope the request for paternity was out of genuine concenr for the little girl and not some confused money play for child support. Only time will tell if Dannielynn will grow up into a well adjusted adult and be able to avoid the personal demons her mother and brother suffered from.
"Heroes: The Fix" Images on web - Jan 25, 2007 - 12:31pm
Bated breath=fish breath or your breath smells like worms.
You kow the season is going to end with a cliff hanger that is gonna drive you out of your mind for 4-5 months, right?
Sigourney Weaver and Michael Biehn in Cameron's "Avatar"? - Jan 19, 2007 - 11:42am
Biehn was always one of my favorite actors, I thought he was a great foil to Kilmer's Doc Holiday. He just had the unfortunate luck to step into films when Van dame, Stallone, and Arnie were what studios were looking for. (hell even Brian Bosworth got a movie because he was big).
If this rumor prooves true, maybe Grindhouse and this film will get him more roles, although with 40+ features to his resume (3 in post/pre-production) I think he has done pretty well being an every man type of character.
Pixar's "WALL-E" gets some plot - Jan 19, 2007 - 11:31am
He looks like Johnny five and Nemo looks like a clown fish. The whole thing is I like pixar films because the writing is always fun. You see a lot of imitators out there but the sharp wit displayed in Pixar films always leaves me looking forward to the next one.
I just wish they would move toward an "incredibles" sequel, I thought that was a better Fantastic Four movie than the Fantastic Four movie.
Christopher Eccleston joins "Heroes" - Jan 19, 2007 - 11:27am
I hope I am not speaking Sci-fi Heresy, but I didn't really like the Dr. Who series until he was Dr. Who. I will look forward to (not) seeing him in the coming weeks
Side note: who else is already planning to buy the season 1 DVD?
MGM's talks plans for "The Hobbit" - Nov 15, 2006 - 02:00pm
A few months ago AICN had an interview With PJ and they asked him how he would do the Hobbit and what he thought MGM should handle it....this description (2 movies, using footnotes, bridge gap to LOTR) seems all like ideas Peter Jackson had talked about in that interview. He also said he would like to get as much of the original cast as possible since Elrond, Galadriel....etc. all were alive in that time frame.
I think the real issue is using anyone BUT Ian McKellan as Gandalf.
Ehren Kruger to direct "The Keep" - Oct 27, 2006 - 01:07pm
for a second there, I thought they were remaking the Michale Mann flick from the 80's
JERICHO gets picked up for full season - Oct 13, 2006 - 12:26pm
I just like the fact that there is something on TV besides a CSI or Law and order. More of the original shows are on cable and the networks finally get it that not everything has to be Dawson's creek or Law and order.
Jericho is fun, I do a healthy suspension of disbelief because at this point, we really don't know what is going on. For all we know they are in a town like DARK CITY where they are being manipulated by aliens to see how they react.
Tangent time:
I finally watched a couple of episodes of Lost for the first time the last couple of weeks, and it really didn't do anything for me. The one thing that bothers me, and this is true of all deserted isle survivor stories....why is it the fat guy NEVER loses weight? 2 weeks without a twinkie and I can start to see my toes, how is it buys like the Skipper on Gilligan's Island and the fat guy on Lost do not lose any weight. And doesn't that tell me that I have no hope? Is that why, after dieting for a month, I don't lose any weight? YAY I can use that as my excuse.
Ali Larter talks HEROES - Oct 12, 2006 - 11:41am
We would all like to think we would have some noble commitment to justice with super powers, I think I do, but in the end, I just want to be able to see into Ali Larter's dressing room.
The show is fun, and I am kinda getting into Jericho too, I like the alternate realities those shows are putting forward.
Stuart Gillard to direct WAR GAMES 2 - Oct 02, 2006 - 11:31am
Why do you have to NAME it a sequel to Wargames.
Also this sounds an awful lot like Hackers. THAT'S a movie i always wanted a sequel to....call it my guilty pleasure.
HACK THE PLANET!
Disney green lights JUNGLE CRUISE - Sep 21, 2006 - 12:49pm
Pirates of the carribean had filled a void for a good Pirate adventure movie which had a built in attractions for a good story (Swashbuckling, Ship to ship combat, buxom prostitutes)
Jungle Cuise fills a void left by what? Anaconda? Maybe the next thing they will do is one based on the Lincoln attraction where lincoln comes to life and starts to eat the tourists.
Rachel Bilson to play Wonder Woman? - Sep 21, 2006 - 12:37pm
I was pulling for Charisma Carpenter too. I always thought she had the right look for WW. Who am I kidding? I wanted to see her in the strapless swimsuit and gogo boots....My how I miss Charisma
Actually when I read this, I was surprised the people over at fox didn't buy out the story and try to slot it with an Independance Day II tag. Think about it, they could have just use some of the designs they had from ID4 and maybe cut production costs. But I guess that wouldn't work because there is nothing left of LA.
