Glen Morgan Leaves BIONIC WOMAN

Just a few weeks before the official debut, executive producer Glen Morgan (X-Files) has left BIONIC WOMAN, says Variety. The trade is reporting the departure from the upcoming NBC show was due to "creative differences". Executive producers David Eick (Battlestar Galactica) & Jason Smilovic will now assume all responsibility for the day-to-day operations. They're currently in production of the fifth episode in Vancouver.

Plot Concept: Nearly killed in a horrifying car accident, Jaime Sommers (Michelle Ryan) is saved by a cutting-edge operation -- performed by her boyfriend, Will -- that leaves her with extraordinary new strength, among other artificially enhanced gifts. Now, however, Jaime must figure out how best to use her new abilities while embracing her new bionic identity.

BIONIC WOMAN premieres on September 26, 2007 at 9:00/8:00 CST.

Sounds like this is going to suck as a series.

Why does it sound that way, Dazzler?

I like what I've seen in the teasers. I have high hopes for NBC's Monday night line-up. I just hope the shows can make survive battling for ratings with Monday Night Football, but then maybe the audience for the shows isn't all that into football. If the shows are good, I'll Tivo the game and watch the shows.

Right, "creative differences" can mean one of many things.

Creative differences is usually (but not always) codespeak for "if I cannot have my way, I'll go find work somewhere else".

Yeah. This could be a good thing.

If this is the same Glen Morgan who worked on The X-Files - and I imagine it is - I'm not so thrilled about his leaving the show so quickly. Morgan is an excellent writer, especially when he works with his longtime partner James Wong. I'll still give the show a shot, butI am a little concerned.

Rgtchtiger, while I agree with the X-Files writing work, explain his and Wong's work as of the last few years. Final Destanation (1 & 3), The One, Willard, and of course the sh*t fest that was Black Christmas. Those alone make me glad he left this show though I have no desire to watch the thing regardless.

myklspader,

I didn't realize Morgan and Wong were behind Black Christmas, but I knew about the other films you listed. I think that all means Morgan and Wong are better suited to write and direct for television series as opposed to films. When studios get in the way of their creativity, they can't really write to their talents. I recently got Season 2 of Millennium on DVD so I can finally see what all the fuss was about for that year when they ran the show. So far it's excellent.
