91 year old actress Gloria Stuart, who appeared in the classic 1933 Universal film THE INVISIBLE MAN, will be turning up as a guest on the contemporary TV show.
While talking to Ian Spelling's syndicated Inside Trek & Sci Fi column, Stuart revealed how she got the gig, saying, "When they called I said, 'You mean I'm going to make another classic? Without Claude Rains? With a nice young man?' I wasn't at all averse to it.
"Having read the script of the episode they wanted me to do. I discovered that this invisible man (Vincent Ventresca) is a power for good. Of course, Claude was a power for evil. It sounded like fun. I'd never really done any other sci-fi after THE INVISIBLE MAN - it scares me, a lot of it... But I had a good time with this."
Stuart will play the part of the grandmother of the program's title character. Regarding the role, she says, "I don't do sweet old ladies anymore. The reason I took this is that she's very feisty and 'up yours.' Vincent was darling. Neither of us was very sure of our lines in the morning, but we'd have them down by noon.
She adds, "They didn't make me disappear or anything like that, though. I was kind of disappointed about that."
