Glad to see Hoodwinked and Glory Road were the winners for the weekend. I'm hoping that after its success at the Golden Globes, my local theater will get Brokeback Mountain.

I think that it is just funny how bad some movies do in the theaters and get the best award and the others that do great get crap....If you live in Utah forget it. For the type of move that Brokeback Mountain is, Utah and other state will never let it in.

Well, just that one theater in Utah. The main Utah critic's circle chose it as best pic of the year.

Brokeback Mountain doesn't look interesting to me. Though I usually try to see movies that win awards, I'm not sure I want to see this one.

I figure this will start an arguement, but I'm not intending it to. I just don't want to watch two guys make out and what ever else they do. Though I won't say the movie is bad or that I hate it just for those reasons, but I won't be seeing it.

Has anyone Seen Tristan and Isolde, and is it any good?

Hoodwinked was extremely entertaining. It was a great spin on some very familiar fairy tales. Very fun movie, and I really think the jokes are more geared to adults than children, with a few exceptions. It was good stuff. Definitely worth seeing either now or at least on DVD.

almostunbiased, there is hardly any "making out" in Brokeback Mountain. The film centers on so much more than what you may be anticipating. It's really about the culture of Wyoming in the 1960's-1980's, family responsibility, friendship, bigotry, et cetera. Very powerful film. Take a chance with it, and you'll be very rewarded.

It appears now that Glory Road DID in fact win the top spot at the box office over the 4-day holiday. The final numbers came out, and Glory Road beat Hoodwinked by a mear $48,187. That's pretty close.

I also saw "Brokeback Mountain" this weekend. I have to admit, the only reason I went was because I do try to keep up with at least some of the movies leading the Oscar race. And I do admit to a higher than average amount of squeamishness about the subject matter just before buying the ticket.

That said, once the film began to unspool, I found myself completely drawn into the movie. I think in lesser hands than Ang Lee, this could have been the movie I feared it would be - but with Lee at the helm and some Oscar-nomination worthy performances by both the leads and much of the supporting cast, "Brokeback" becomes one of the great romantic tragedies.

If one is homophobic, then I wouldn't recommend it, anymore than I would recommend "Hostel" to anybody who's squeamish at the sight of blood. But for anybody who is on the fence about seeing the movie, I would definitely recommend it.

In order to be accepted into society fully, gay people should make more highly praised entertainment. I haven't seen the movie, nor do I plan to, but instead of trying to shock us with gay pride parades, etc., they should instead use high-caliber, non-"preachy" entertainment. Just a thought.
