Three more actors are coming aboard Roland Emmerich's next apocalypse project. Danny Glover, Thandie Newton and Oliver Platt are in discussions to join Columbia Pictures' epic disaster project, 2012, which Roland Emmerich is directing. The trio will be joining already cast John Cusack and Chiwetel Ejiofor. Unlike 10,000 B.C, the studio is planning this as a major summer tent pole with July 10, 2009 as the release date for Emmerich, where his movies usually tend to do better. Barring a SAG strike, production will begin in July.

Plot Concept: The film centers on a global cataclysm and tells the heroic struggle of the survivors.
Glover is in talks to play the president, with Newton in discussions to play his daughter. Platt is in negotiations to play the president's chief of staff.

Always good to see the world destroyed, I'm expecting to see great special effects.
By the way that's Independence Day not Day After Tomorrow in related products.

I have always enjoyed Emmerich's movies...10,000 BC was a little bit of a mis-step, but still gave me some good eye candy.....I remember how blown away I was at Independence Day and how they just blew the poop out of everything,,,,AWESOME!! I can't wait to see what he does with this. I bet it has some crazy good visuals.

Morgan Freeman is the president on the asteroid threatened Earth in Deep Impact.
Danny Glover will be president in the apocalyptic 2012.

WTF! Can't a brother be president without the world coming to an end? :p

How ironic would it be if Barack Obama won Presidency and 2012 or something did happen?

Glad to see Oliver Platt in a summer blockbuster. He's great, but we haven't seen much of him lately.

Put Roland Emmerich and Michael Bay together and you could have One Hell of a disaster flick!
