So I saw the first episode of the Venus Versus Virus a few days ago. (I uploaded the opening, straight from Youtube). I think if I didn't already have a good hold on the story, this show would be so confusing! They open it in the middle of the two main character's adventures in hunting down monsters, and add in a new character, the cute niece of the older gentleman character who is Lucia's mentor and father figure in the manga, utterly changing the vibe of that tight relationship. I really like the storyline in manga, but gah, the anime better improve soon or I'm dropping it.

Hi world.
Well, the reviews for Kashimashi Vol. 1 have been coming in, and it sounds like we did a five-star job! Here's the latest one from the gal behind ALC Publishing, the Yuricon publishing arm.

"...this volume of Kashimashi may well be the single best adaptation of a manga into English that I have ever seen. "
Oh yeah! Oh yeah! *does the chair dance*
Look out for the next volume of Kashimashi and Venus Versus Virus!

Nothing sucks more than moving your computer to another room... and the phone jack/DSL connection doesn't work. So now I have a 100 foot cord across my apartment, hooked up to the new computer spot.
Not much new-new... I can finally discuss the latest series I've worked on for Seven Seas Entertainment: Venus Versus Virus. I've seen the lettered pdf version, and it looks awesome! Besides the whole personal bias of me being involved, the first volume just looks pretty and the story's exciting as well! A great job done by everyone involved. So check it out in the summer when it should be hitting shelves.

Wow... I haven't updated in a while! I've been busy over here, getting ready for Christmas and my daughter's birthday, as well as the main job just working me to death... :P Overtime and messed up schedules sucks!
I uploaded the Log Driver's Waltz video, which is an old-time Canadian cartoon that they used to play on CTV all the time when I was a wee one. I stumbled across it last week, and boy, did it bring back the memories. I miss HInterland's Who as well. All those cheap Canadian TV shorts they broadcasted to keep under the American content limits...
Well, the job didn't pan out, but that's okay. Things happen the way they were meant to. I might get the part-time version of the job, and that would let me stay home and make some money. :D
Working on yet another manga adaptation, but as the series licensing hasn't been announced yet... I can't talk much about it. Just that it's a really neat title that will appeal to a lot of folks.

This has been an incredibly busy week, at work and at home.
First, our daycare provider became ill, so Matt ended up taking off two days to take care of the baby. Only naturally, the whole house becomes a disaster area within hours, and the girl hasn't had a bath in three days.
Second, I've got a job interview on Friday. (YAY!) And those always take some mental time and stress, as well as updating your portfolio. It's been a while since I last had an interview.
Third, I'm working on another manga adaptation. No title or details until the company's announced their acquisition of the title. Sorry. But I'll say that this is an AWESOME manga! The guys and the girls will enjoy this one!
Fourth, I finally finished Ghost in the Shell: Stand-Alone Complex 2nd Gig. I thought the ending was perfect, setting the scene for the events in the first Ghost in the Shell movie, with a more philosophical Major, ready to jump into merging her consciousness with the Puppet Master. (Oops, spoiler alert?) I really can't wait to see the Solid State Society movie. I think Bandai said Summer 2007. I hope so.
I also watched the first episode of Gunslinger Girl. Yup, already I can feel the depression and forthcoming love tragedy settling in, but it looks interesting.
The American Otaku column for this week is up. I'd love to get some comments. If only to say that someone's been reading it. :)
Link of the Day: Caturday - Because EVERDAY is Caturday!
Long time since the last update. Basically, I've been really busy, finishing up the rewrite of volume one of Seven Seas' Kodomo no Jikan (going to be renamed as Nymphet). That one is coming out... in April.
I also had my birthday on the 7th. I spent the day playing Star Ocean: Til the End of Time, trying to finish it up, and I stumbled upon the weird "now it's easy!" factor. So I'm now leveling everyone up to at least level 50, and then into the Sacred Orb!
In other news, I took my own advice from last week's American Otaku column and tried out some Japanese snacks. I tried Strawberry Pocky at last (YUM!) and some cookies called Koala's March... Really good chocolatey-animal cracker-ish cookies. I'll attach a picture.

Ugh. I had the day off of work-- but had to attend a six-hour meeting. It was so boring! And they didn't really feed us at all! No breakfast, no lunch... Argh.
I'm working away on Seven Seas' adaptation of Kodomo no Jikan. The title's going to change before its release in 2007, but I assure you, all of the twisted content will remain the same! :D
Link of the Day: Yu-Gi-Oh: The Abridged Series - Oh. My. God. So funny. Watch this Youtube series (13 episodes thus far) if you're a fan or an anti-fan of the insipid broadcasted series.
Yeah. You read that right.
I saw Batman at a 7-11 yesterday, getting a coffee. Scared the snot out of me, as I was reading in the bus while waiting for my driver to finish her cigarette, saw something move in front of me, look up and HOLY ----! IT'S BATMAN!!
Then the voice of Warren Ellis' other persona spoke to me: "I'm Batman, and I'm here for a slurpee."
Bwhahahahaha!
Then an entire episode of 3 AM Munchies Batman appeared in my brain and I lost it.
Bwhahahaha!
Sometimes, it's fun being me.
Link of the Day: The Perry Bible Fellowship - A really funny and sarcastic comic strip that appeals to my warped sense of humor.
Don't have much to say today--at least I can wear my cat-ear hat to work today. :D
Recommended Hallowe'en Manga: I Luv Halloween (TOKYOPOP) - I read the first volume; haven't found the second one on local shelves yet. It's a good read for people who like Johnny the Homicidal Maniac, Invader Zim and other Jhonen Vasquez goodness/horribleness. It's OEL as well, so manga purists, turn to Hellsing and other vampire and horror epics.

So I've got a problem.
I have something of a code of honor when it comes to RPG video games -- I always finish a game before buying and playing another one. Now, back in the SNES/Playstation years, this wasn't that had to keep, as there weren't that many games and I was either a poor middle-high school student or a poor college lass.
However, now I'm all grown up with a PS2... this is hard. I don't have the time to play, but I have so many neat games to play!
So here's the score: I have Magna Carta, Star Ocean: Till the End of Time and Disgaea 2 cooking on the PS2. I have Shadow of the Colossus on the back-burner. (Matt bought it, but we haven't played it yet. No spare memory.) FFXII is coming. Okami is here.
I'm so screwed.
Magna Carta, I'll return to eventually. I put it down to play and finish Kingdom Hearts II, as I was at one of those levelling up points in the game, and apparently, I have 10 pages or so of the guidebook to finish. Disgaea 2... I'm just an addict. But Star Ocean...it's tempting me to break the code.
I'm right near the end, about to enter the Aqua-something city with the cool castle music and (SPOILER ALERT) enter the dimension hole thingy to fight the dude trying to erase the characters' universe. However, I have no urge whatsoever to finish this game. The enemies keep killing me and I don't feel like forging new weapons o' doom or spending hours to level up. Basically, it's the same problem that I had with Star Ocean: The Second Story, except that I didn't hate the storyline so much. I mean, it was such a cop-out, making the dramatic what's-really-going-on revelation as (SPOILER ALERT) the characters are... characters in a video game in the fourth dimension, and the game/universe is going to be erased because it's buggy. I mean, can you get any more self-referential? "The programmers and artists who believe in the game will save you... from our evil CEO boss!" Bleh.
So I'll probably finish it. I'm too much of a completionist to just trade it in for some store credit. It sucks being me sometimes. :P
