Vanguard Films has picked up the fantasy comedy GNOMES! by Micah Herman and Kyle Newman.

Herman and Newman will co-direct film.

ugh...all we need. A 90 minute Travelocity commercial. What a waste of film and money.

renderman72, this movie is for kids not adults.

Doesn't matter snoogans. I think kids today are far beyond gnomes. Take a look at the current Saturday morning lineups. The cartoons of the past are gone and being replaced with the same reality TV trash that adults are watching only its "geared toward kids". I doubt any kid out there is going to be begging his parents to take him to see a movie with gnomes.

I loved the travelling gnome in Amelie. It was a wonderful touch to a great movie. Then a travel agency decided to use the same gag in their commercials, I was annoyed by that. Now more gnomes to capitalize on the gag (of a gag). Sigh.

Actually, I think it was Animaniacs that had some shorts about Lawn Gnomes that turned into real gnomes at dark. It was a parody of the Gargoyle cartoon...

I have not seen the Travelocity commercial. Does it have a garden gnome that comes alive? If not, then I don't see the connection. Even then it would be tenuous at best.

As a reminder, the Gnome books of the mid-80s by Wil Huygen and Rien Poortvliet were extremely popular and spawned many spin-off books, animations and other projects long before the Travelocity commercial hit the air.

That combined with LOTR probably had more to do with this project getting the green light than one batch of commercials that I don't recall as setting the world on fire. It's not like we're talking about "Whazzup: The Movie".

As long as the main Gnome is named David and he rides on a fox named Swift, I will be there.

like I said...a waste of time and money.

anyone rememeber the goosebumps series of books and even the series on Fox Tv. there was a story about gnomes coming to life when it got dark, caused all kinds of mischief. The episode was broken into two 30 minute segments. I don't see this working well at all, its a used up idea. And a bad idea at that.
