The sequel to last year's hit PlayStation 2 video game
RATCHET & CLANK has arrived in stores. As was the case with the first title,
RATCHET & CLANK: GOING COMMANDO, designed by Insomnia Games, is only available for PS2 owners. The game is about one-and-a-half times bigger than its predecessor.
In
GOING COMMANDO, the furry adventurer and his robotic companion find themselves voyaging to the distant Bogon galaxy, being hired as freelance investigators and exploring 20 new planets. As suggested by the game's title, Ratchet gets his paws on a high-tech commando suit that can be powered up as the game progresses, allowing the player to use bigger and better weaponry and add to the hit points and body armor of your character. The game's designers claim that there are more elements of a traditional role-playing game in
GOING COMMANDO than found in other straight-forward action-adventure platform including the first game.
Also added to the sequel are what the game designers call "maxigames", side missions that players can go back and play again and again to build up their supply of credits and experience. The maxigames range from melee combat in an alien gladiator arena to combat in outer space.
RATCHET & CLANK: GOING COMMANDO will likely be one of the bigger holiday titles for the PlayStation 2 this year. The game has been rated "T" (Teen) by the ESRB and retails for $49.99. You can look at screenshots and check out Ratchet's new suit and firepower
on the game's official website.
