I'm not familiar with the books but this seems pretty cool. I'll see it, I like the cast.

Haven't read the books either, but this looks like a winner for the Christmas season.
Interesting that the trailer begins with the reminder "HEY WE DID LOTR! YOU OWE US! YOU HAVE TO COME WATCH THIS, CAUSE IT'S KINDA LIKE LOTR!" Rather brave of New Line to be bringing that up. I hear that many fans of LotR are kind of annoyed with them regarding the ongoing dispute with a certain director. Oh, and when is The Hobbit coming out, again?
Is there some kind of special casting agency that deals only with actresses named Dakota?

Read the books before the movie can spoil them for you.

I like this! It's kinda different.

Much as I grew up on science fiction, my attention leaned more towards fantasy.

I'm a sucker for fantasy movies from Krull to Legend to LOTR to Pan's Labyrinth and such.

Usually I get fantasy movie DVDs before science fiction ones, with the exception of "The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe", because of it's "Christ Is King" Christian grandstanding and it's old world subliminal preaching that witches are evil and Christianity is the only good force in the world.

With that one it'll NEVER see a place in my home as it is generally, like "Battlefield Earth", a hidden religious proaganda movie for an religious movement.

Now this movie is close to a merge between LOTR and The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe with elements of The Polar Express sort of thrown in.

When it comes out on DVD it will definitely find a place in my home and on my shelf of movies. :-)

Also I wouldn't mind seeing a series of movies made out of the books, as there is enough to make at least a few.

As for young actresses named "Dakota" nice perception there Captmathman! Your absolutely right.

Between Dakota Blue Richards and Dakota Fanning it seems these days only good young actresses are named "Dakota" :-)

Just watch out, when you least expect it, your see both in the same movie sometime in the future.

Some of that reminds me of the world in Steamboy, it's pretty cool looking.

Great cast. Kidman is so elegant. Eva so Hot. Craig is a great actor. And this looks like it is done well (though polar bear looks fake). I'll see this.

Excellent books, sounds like the movie has a great chance with this great cast.

The trailer to this looked really good. It kinda had a Lion The Witch and The Wardrobe feel to it. I'm all for seeing this.
