Goldsman is on CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK

Akiva Goldsman has signed on to pen the script for the sequel to PITCH BLACK, now named THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK.

Goldsman, you may remember, penned BATMAN & ROBIN and LOST IN SPACE, and recently won an Oscar for his script for A BEAUTIFUL MIND.

Vin Diesel is retuning to his role as Riddick from BLACK, and the sequel is expected to be a futuristic action movie centering on his character.

Said Disel to EMPIRE magazine recently about the movie, "It's not scary, but it's like a creature movie. We're on another planet and it's crazy. These creatures come out only in the dark, and we can only see in the dark."

Shooting begins in August for a release next year.
