Paramount Pictures has brought in screenwriter-producer Akiva Goldsman to help flesh out the story for Paranormal Activity 2, which the studio hopes to have in theaters by next October to compete against Saw 3D. Deadline NY reports that Goldsman became executive producer and is helping to flesh out the sequel with the producing team of Oren Peli, Jason Blum and Steven Schneider.

While Shock Til You Drop reports that Goldsman ("Fringe") may make his feature film debut on it, Deadline conflicts it by saying the directing job will be filled soon as the film moves toward a May production start.

Kevin Greutert (Saw VI) was originally tapped to handle the directing but Twisted Pictures quickly pulled him back to their upcoming 3D installment in the Saw franchise with hopes to have it compete once again for next Halloween's box office.

Both films are set to open October 22, 2010.

Here's an idea for anyone considering falling for the fallaious hype a second time:

  1. Go to nearest ATM
  2. Withdraw $20 cash
  3. Find derelict (bum, hooker, panhandler, carck whore, etc...)
  4. Give that person the cash
  5. Go behind the nearest dumpster
  6. Have them kick you in the nuts or taco
  7. Try not to be upset as you get rolled while you lay crumpled on the ground

Following those instructions will have the same effect of paying someone to dupe you twice.

LOL Meunster, agree 100%.

I actually saw the first on dvd cause I just wasn't feeling what I saw on the commercials and lo and behold, what a piece of crap. I was mad that I sat thru the entire film even if it was free. I won 't make that mistake with the sequel

It had a pretty cut and dry ending on the alternate ending....just leave it there?

Muenster, what's a carck whore? It sounds hot!

I saw PA in the theater with a huge crowd and it was a lot of fun. One woman ran out of the theater crying while her friend stayed behind, rocking hysterically in her seat.

I thought my buddy was sleeping half-way through the movie. Turns out he just had his hat covering his eyes because he was so freaked out (yeah, uh, we're 30). By the end of the flick, he was covering his eyes with his hat and covering his ears with his hands. By the way, he was a hard ass Army Ranger.

I've never had so much fun at the movies before.

But a sequel? Really not necessary.

I LOVED the first one!

Had me on the edge of my seat, and one of the nmost scary movies inyears.

Movies that let your imagination scare you are the best. It didn't rely on gore or special effects (what everyone here is always crying about) The whole bit about it f*kking with them in their sleep (usually when a person is most vulnerable) was tense! LOVED IT!

HOWEVER, a sequel? no thanks...

Don't they remember how god awful Blair Witch 2 was?

Brodee.  A 'carck whore' is a crack whore with dyslexia. Hey, just to be humorous, perhaps you should not attend sub-low budget movie screenings with (short) bus loads of retards and a shell shocked soldier strung-out on a cocktail of Topimax, Olanzapine, Citalopram, Cherry Coke and a $9 buttered popcorn.

The first was real fun in theatres with lots of friends but ill skip the second.

Nice Muenster, Nice!

From the man who brought us Batman & Robin, Lost in Space, Hancock, Angels and Demons, and the unholy butchering of Constantine... can you say this film will suck balls.  I can, "This film will suck balls!!!"  ...and NOT in a good way.

Muenster: I got to hand it to you, you summed it all up very nicely. Anyone dumb enough to buy into this for Round 2 deserves to lose their money. Me, I wasn't gullable enough to fall for this movie the first time. I didn't see it and I don't watch the whole camcorder, reality based nonsense like Blair Witch, Cloverfield, and the rest of that ilk. I admit, I went ahead and watched Cloverfield and it was a severe waste. Collecting dust would be more exciting. How is anyone seriously scared at these types of movies?
