Raimi Updates SPIDER-MAN 4 & SHADOW - Oct 17, 2007 - 12:14pm
I hope they don't do another Spidey movie anytime soon. The last one was PAINFUL to watch and suffered the same "over the top" syndrome as Batman & Robin. After 2 good movies, the last one lacked a good story, good acting (especially from the leads), and good directing (except for some of the action, which was good to see & feel in an IMAX theatre).
GALACTICA Will End After Fourth Season - Jun 02, 2007 - 12:31pm
I don't post often, but I had to put in my two cents worth. I'm fan of the old series, but I also think that the new series is absolutely fantastic. Sure they made some changes, but they were interesting changes and the concept and storylines really are deeper and richer than the first series.
I actually don't have a problem with a femal Starbuck, especially how well that role has been played in the new series. Apollo is a little whiner than the Apollo in the old series, but still a good character.
Overall, this series has been a success, especially in the new world of cable and alternative media that dilutes the TV viewing audience.
As far as what some of the actors or producers have said about the old series, I can't comment on it b/c I have not heard any of the comments directly. However, if they are simply responding to fans of the old series who are critical of the new simply b/c it is different, then I agree with them. It's alright to perfer one series over the other, but you don't have to dog the new one simply b/c it is different.
2007 Oscar Winners - Feb 26, 2007 - 11:33am
Overall, the Oscars were good this year. Ellen got better as the show went on and it didn't seem to drag on like some previous shows. However, I almost stopped watching when Pan's didn't get best foreign film. It was one of the best, if not the best, movies I've seen all year and I can't imagine that the German movie could have been any better (I have yet to here a single thing about it from a single critic or reviewer, while Pan's is on everyone's top 10 list).
Also, I'm in the minority here, but I don't think Departed should have won for best picture. It was good, but I thought Little Miss Sunshine was better. I thought there was some holes in the plot reasoning at the end of Departed that would have prevented me from giving it a Best picture nod. Still glad Scorcesse won though.
Finally, I agree with a lot of you that Children of Men got screwed. It was a fantastic movie and some of the scenes were unbelievable! I enjoyed it far more than Babel (I'm not ragging on Babel, in case you were wondering).
I hope they don't do another Spidey movie anytime soon. The last one was PAINFUL to watch and suffered the same "over the top" syndrome as Batman & Robin.
