Ryan Gosling and Tom Waits are set to star in The Good Heart, a movie by director Dagur Kari.

The movie will star Gosling as a young homeless man who is taken under the wing of a bar owner (Waits). Waits' character has suffered multiple heart attacks and knowing his days are numbered he decides it is best to spend his remaining time training a homeless man to run the bar.

Where do they come up with this stuff!

I enjoed Gosling in Murder by Numbers and The Notebook, and have always thought Tom Waits was a great actor, but the plot seems weak.

The plot may sound weak, but this could be a good character film. Why is the young man homeless. Reflections of the older man on his life and the choices he has made. Could be interesting.

Iracors, I got to completely agree with you on this. If done right, the characters could make this a really good film, especially with the acting talent Gosling and Waits possess.

A movie that is in a similar vein is "Hard Eight" or "Sydney" - made in 1996 by by Paul Thomas Anderson - a professional gambler (Philip Baker Hall) takes a drifter (John C. Reilly) under his wing - later things are complicated by Gwyneth Paltrow and Samuel L. Jackson - I was pleasantly surprised and entertained by this film - you can also catch a young Phillip Seymour Hoffman in the casino!

Tom Waits is fucking AWSOME!!!! Rain Dogs is one of the greatest albums ever made. He has done a good job in every film Ive seen him in, bordering on great in "Coffee and Cigarettes" He is a true Renaissance man and Ill check this out based on his merit as an artist alone.
