Goodfellas Scorsese and De Niro Reteaming for Gangland HOUSES

As fellow Maniac Flint passed along this morning, those Goodfellas are back together again. Eighteen years after "Fellas" and thirteen years after Casino hit theaters, Variety reports that director Martin Scorsese and leading star Robert De Niro are teaming up again to adapt I Heard You Paint Houses, the Charles Brandt-written book about the mob assassin who many believe was involved in the death of Teamster boss Jimmy Hoffa. Paramount Pictures has hired Steve Zaillian to adapt the story into a screenplay while Scorsese is set to direct it. De Niro will play Frank "the Irishman" Sheeran, who is reputed to have carried out more than 25 mob murders.

The film will be produced by Scorsese and Tribeca partners De Niro and Jane Rosenthal. Project landed at Paramount through the overall deal that the studio has with Scorsese’s Sikelia Prods.

Plot Concept: "Houses" refers to mob slang for contract killings, and the resulting blood splatter on walls and floors. Book was written by Charles Brandt, who befriended Sheeran shortly before the latter’s death in 2003. Among the crimes Sheeran confessed to Brandt, according to the 2004 book, was the killing and dismemberment of Hoffa, carried out on orders from mob boss Russell Bufalino.

Scorcesse + Deniro in gansta movie = Awesomeness! I wonder if he'll tap Dicaprio to be in the movie as well.

Because when I think "Irish", I think De Niro.

But really, who cares? It's Scorsese & De Niro. I'm down. Good call on Dicaprio, hanso. That would be awesome!

Not really a big fan of "Mob" movies, but really dig Goodfellas and Casino so I am so on board for this. I would like to see Leo and Joe Pesci come on board for this. That would be dope. Even bring back Ray Liotta.

Seen every damn Scorsese film ever made, and I must say that the best ones were the ones with Deniro. The dude can finally do a decent movie, which he hasn't done since I would say The Score? I'm in line for this already. Don't care too much about Dicaprio getting involved, but you gotta bring in Joe Pesci for something, hopefully a bigger cameo then what he did in Bronx Tale back in 93'

Needless to say this will be excellent....the old "gang" back together again, plus it will be an interesting take on what happened to Hoffa....

Here's a question: Do you think that DeNiro would ever consider a Comic Movie? What villian would he play....(just a thought)

Why paint houses when you can paint faces?

I was all teeth reading this! I have always been intrigued by Hoffa since I did a paper on him back in 9th grade and to have the dream team back together doing the gangster movie. WOW so Stoked!

Does anyone know if Shutter Island is finished yet? The Dennis Lehane book Scorcese is working on with Dicaprio. Man, Lehane is hot the past half decade. Three of his books made and all of them by high profile actors/directors or directors and the two of them that are already finished receiving Oscar nods and Oscars. Color me impressed.
