Gosling Up For BONES

Ryan Gosling just came out of a Oscar nominated performance in HALF NELSON. Now, he's turning his acting abilities into a new role for Peter Jackson's upcoming THE LOVELY BONES. Dreamworks has signed the actor on to lead up the cast alongside Rachel Weisz in the Jackson written story.

What's the story about?

It's told through the voice of Susie Salmon, who is murdered but continues to observe her family on Earth after her death. Removed from the world she once knew, Susie witnesses the impact of her loss on her loved ones, while her killer skillfully covers his tracks and prepares to murder again.

Ryan Gosling will be playing Susie's father. Rachel Weisz will be playing her mother.

No star has been attached for Susie's role.

I'm still holding out hope that Peter Jackson gets this film made, New Line loses the rights to THE HOBBIT and we still get one more Jackson directed Hobbit adventure. I know, that's too optimistic an expectation, Maniacs.

This will be awesome,,,,,,two amazing actors combined with Peter Jackson,,,,,,,this is good news.....I think Ryan Gosling will be a good match with Rachel Weiz in terms of pwerful acting. Everytime i see Stay, I always am amazed at how good Ryan is and the end always makes me teary. Hooray for Hollywood.

I agree with the combo, but I'm just not excited yet.

I'm excited. This looks like a great story, and Jackson should be able to deliver a powerful film.

Two questions.

How is Young Hercules going to hold his own with Rachel Weisz?

How is Ryan Gosling going to be believable as Weisz' husband when there's a nine year age difference?

I just can't take Gosling seriously in anything since I watched The Notebook during a flight. And I know from The Graduate and Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade that age differences in Hollywood don't mean anything.

I just... When I think of who would be an emotional equal to Rachel Weisz, Ryan Gosling is one of the furthest names from my mind. What about Kevin Spacey or Gary Sinise or Viggo Mortenson (a little too old there).

I just love this book so much, and I would hate to see the casting kill it.
