It only makes sense that DC Comics and Warner Brothers are playing catch up. How can they not when their fans are screaming for a Justice League movie and The Avengers just launched a spin off TV series? In what could be either a brilliant TV series in the vein of Law and Order or a nightmare, think Birds of Prey, Warner Brothers has announced Gotham. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that FOX is getting a series with a young Commissioner Gordon as the lead. The showrunner for the series will be the Mentalist’s Bruno Heller.
“Fox has given a straight-to-series order for comic book drama Gotham, based on Batman character Commissioner James Gordon”.
“Since it chronicles events before Gordon meets Batman, the superhero will not be part of the series -- but Gordon's roots in the Batman universe go quite deep. He first appeared in Detective Comics #27, the same issue that introduced the Dark Knight”.
If the show takes a few pages from the Ed Brubaker’s and Greg Rucka’s Gotham Central, the series could be a hit. The series is slated to premiere for 2014-2015 season.
