Meh

Sounds good, though we'll see.

Excellent idea. As you said it could be really good. It could be a gritty, noir cop drama or they could decide to go light and family friendly with colorful costumes. I've never read the Gotham Central comic but I assume it was on the gritty side. Hopefully they won't go too grimy. That AMC show Low Winter Sun is downright depressing.

DC catching up to what? They've dominated the live tv segment for years. Marvel is just now getting in the game with SHIELD and whether or not the series lasts is still a big question.

Anyway I like the idea of seeing Gordon's adventures prior to Batman. Maybe we'll see some of Batman's villains in their infancy

Gotham Central would be cool but it probably works better on cable than on a network.  Also, I dont think they will be able to use the Bat villains, so it will end up being just a straight cop show but with Gotham police characters.

Guess if they do something like The Shield with some Serpico itd be cool.

Eh .. not interested if no Bat's .

hanso when I say Batman villains in their infancy I mean before they don a costume or transform. Like the Penguin for example or one of the lesser known villains. Maybe we can see them before they adapt their new identity as they work their way up the criminal ladder as petty criminals or even henchmen for the bosses of the time.

DC is following Marvel again - talking about a series based around secondary characters (DC's take on SHIELD), while taking the worst parts of Smallville (no flights no tights). We're gonna do a Batman series without Batman.

I LOVE the GCPD characters - Gordon, Montoya, Bullock, maybe even get Dent in there for a while (depending on the timeframe they set it). But they're just doing a copy/paste job again.

As for DC "dominating" the TV scene, that's because Marve hasn't waded in until now. DC has had the MOST shows, but that doesn't mean they were great. Smallvilled was iffy at best. Arrow - I LOVE the show, but look how far from the source material they had to stray to get it on television. Wonder Woman couldn't even get the pilot finished, let alone aired and picked up to series.

Just because they've got product out there doesn't mean they're winning.

Hanso, I think they will be able to use Batman's rogues gallery, because DC/WB is still producing it, not licensing it to FOX. I don't know that they'll get carried away, but a lot of the rogues from the Bat-verse fit well for a just-slightly-fantastical police show.

My suggestion for DC/WB is the same as it's been for the past few years: Just stop. Stop coming up with these insane, flung-to-the-wall-and-see-what-sticks ideas. Just stop for 12-18 months, get one person to be in charge - a DC version of Kevin Feige - and lay out a plan, an agenda, a timetable, and then work on it as a coherent creation. I've read enough behind-the-scenes stuff to know they do this with their comics -they hold a retreat once or twice a year, get all the writers for a series - say, all the Bat-books - and toss in some artists, then they game-plan the next year's stories. They have the line editor in charge, and he gets final approval.

Marvel has approached their movies/TV shows (including animation) the same way. They're treating the properties like a separate comic line - the main line, the "Ultimates" line, and the MCU - and they are striking gold. So, yes, DC/WB, just stop for a short bit, sit down, and figure out what you want to do. Until then, it's just going to be saying "Avengers did great, let's team up Bats and Supes!" or "Look at all the hype the S.H.I.E.L.D. show is getting! We need to do that!"

I know what u meant, and it be cool to do that, get a young Dent in there for example, but I dont know if WB will even let them be used like that.  They got rules when len ding out the Bat characters.
