Goyer Goes to the SHADOW HOUSE

By: Arnold T. Blumberg
Date: Monday, March 18, 2002

He's wrestled with vampire hunters and demon-possessed bikers in a variety of projects that are both in theaters and on the boards, but now writer David Goyer is teaming with living legend and horror maestro Clive Barker to shape a new series for cabler HBO.

"I have a pilot at HBO with Clive Barker," says Goyer while promoting his upcoming comic book adaptation BLADE 2. "It's called SHADOW HOUSE. Clive and I did it with Francis Ford Coppola. We're writing it right now."

The pilot is definitely a genre effort, but Goyer is keen on taking advantage of the opportunity to give it a certain cable television quality.

"We're trying to see if we can put the HBO spin on it," says Goyer. "So it is genre, but what I like about the HBO shows is that they take things in a more intelligent direction. There aren't any special effects in it. It's scary and psychological."

More on this project as it develops.
