Blade screenwriter David Goyer spoke to the DNCC and the subject of a movie based on Marvel's spider-villain 'Venom ' also came up. Goyer had completed a screenplay for Venom but the project's been stalled. Goyer told the Continuum, "New Line's going to see how Blade does. The first budget pass (at Venom) was $80 million. I tend to write big and they didn't know that Venom could support an $80 million movie, so they're kind of waiting to see how Blade does."
Blade opened at #1 at the box office, unseating critical favorite Saving Private Ryan.
