David Goyer recently talked about the upcoming film, The Dark Knight, with Sci Fi Wire and in doing so mentioned that Two-Face may not make an appearance.

"I think Harvey Dent has been mentioned," Goyer said.  "I don't know that Two-Face has been mentioned."

Goyer also added that him and Nolan "spent a long time, a number of weeks, talking before we decided that we could come up with a story that was as exciting, if not more so, than the first one, because we really did not want to let down the fans. We had to figure out a way to top ourselves, and I think we have."

Though director Christopher Nolan's brother Jonathan wrote the script, Goyer helped develop the story with Chris before Jonathan penned the actual script.

Hmmm . . . Goyer not directly writing it doesn't bother me that much. And I trust Nolan to deliver a stunningly directed film.

I dislike the idea that they feel they need to beat the previous film, though. They should try to make a film as good as the previous one, sure, but the "bettering" it, I fear, leads to wanting bigger budgets, more stars, more villains, bigger effects - and when you add too much, you get Batman Forever.

I trust Nolan. I think he can do better without necessarily doing bigger. If nothing else, I trust we won't be seeing another Batman Forever anytime soon.

i trust nolan as well. His brother writes pretty well (even though in my opinion Goyer is better) but i trust the nolans to be able to dish out the good a la "the prestiege"

cant wait for this film

Just make it as plausible as "Batman Begins" and it definetly gets my vote. Every little thing was explained brilliantly, even down to Batman's entire suit. If they are keeping the same cast, albeit withut Katie Holmes, the same director and roughly the same creative team, I think we can expect another brilliant movie :)

Putting it as simply as possible, this movie will kick our collective ass each day of the week and twice on Sunday. Bale, Caine, Ledger, Eckhart, Oldman, Freeman, (Maggie) Gyllenhaal (thankfully replacing Katie "Pouty" Holmes)... a Nolan writing, a Nolan directing and it's frickin' BATMAN= great film. You can't screw this up.

Like everyone else here, I also found Batman Begins to be very good. Now that all the tech stuff is explained, we can concentrate on the characters. Which is good, because the Batman/Joker dynamic deserves a lot of screentime. My only complaint about the first one was Batman's voice...and Katie. Hopefully they tie up the scarecrow loose end too.

I trust Nolan & Goyer will do The Dark Knight, justice! (No pun intended) Hooray for ridding Katie "Joey Potter" Holmes, and replacing her with the sultry Maggie Gyllenhaal. Eckhart is cool. The only thing I see about the sequel to Batman Begins is the fear that it might become Nolan's "Empire Strikes Back" (Respectively)...Meaning, that The Dark Knight will BE over the top than the first, but...If there will be a third installment of the Batman francise, (which I'm sure there will be), it might be somewhat of a let down like Return of the Jedi (Respectively)...Then again, I can be wrong...I agree with Jackal, Originaldave77..."We can expect another brilliant movie"...See you at the movies! Sodas & popcorn on me, fellas!...Yes, I'll throw in the nachos, too!

This is going to make major coin. Can't wait, myself. Don't really care if Katie is in it or not, but landing Maggie is a great score. Two Face not being in doesn't matter so much, either. We'll see him soon enough down the road.

I hope we don't see Two-Face until the end of the film, but see Dent's slow spiral into madness (I'm thinking Insomnia). That story plays to Nolan's strengths as a director. The Dark Knight should focus on Batman vs. his greatest foe, Joker. I don't think we have to worry about any kind of letdown from the first film, and I just can't see Nolan letting the film get out of control and focus; he's just too good.

The only thing that concerns me about this is the threat. Nolan gives us the fact that the Joker is up for a double homicide, presumably thats why he was in Arkam Asylum, and that he leaves a calling card on his victims. Okay, with you so far. He has a taste for theatrics. Great, that sounds solid. But Ras Al'Ghul and the League of Shadows was an organisation that had presence, ie was known to the underworld. I'm talking "in the film", not to fans who followed the stories and comics. And the threat in "Begins" was definetly credible and perfectly explained. Dont get me wrong, I'm a massive fan of the film, but how will they get a single former inmate to be a threat to Gotham and the Knight without it being cheesy, ie "Hey look I have a bomb here" or the laughing gas as used in the Burton original ?
