Gravity: Detached Trailer

Damn Scary

By Robert T. Trate     July 24, 2013
Source: Warner Bros.

Here is the newest trailer for Alfonso Cuaron’s (Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban) Gravity. This trailer is titled “Detach”. If you stop and think about it, those final shots are really scary. Just think about it, hurtling out into the void of space.

The Plot: Astronauts (George Clooney and Sandra Bullock) attempt to return to earth after debris crashes into their space shuttle, leaving them drifting alone in space.

Gravity features George Clooney, Sandra Bullock, Basher Savage, Eric Michels and is based on a screenplay by Alfonso and Jonas Curaon.

Gravity falls October 4th, 2013.

Man I am so excited for this film. The tension is palpable. Just like the first trailer.

Been waiting on this for like 2 years, glad is almost here

Yeah I will be skipping this I think. Simply put it is a bit TOO realistic. Except for the fact given a catastrophic event like that, the odds of you escaping high velocity projectile debris is about as good as hitting the powerball. Not to mention the g forces and inertia from something like that would cause serious head trauma and injury. Those suits only have maybe 12 hours of air in them, not to mention limited fuel for the thruster jets. They are dead. Move on.

I'm remaining optimistic on this one (despite my feeling toward Children of Men).  But did that CG seem bad to anyone else?  I don't me the space station or anything like that but the space suits and there movements particularly when he was trying to get her free.  Seemed a bit off to me.  You'd think that part wouldn't be CG, but it seemed like it to me.

That was fantastic. Wow!

And as much as I love "Blowt Stuf Up Reel Guud" FX movies I'm happy to see a sc-fi FX movie that appears to be more... real I guess is the right term.

Laz is saying he doesn't like that here. Even though I imagine there will some type of stretching reality to suit story purposes I wouldn't put it in the same category as Pacific Rim. But it also will not be as real as a new movie version of Death Of A Salesman.

totally on board. looks amazing. I'll see anything from Cuaron, one of the better directors.

redhairs99, yeah, that CG was bothering me.  Something about the arms and hands seemed off.

But I am still very excited about this movie.  Cuaron did my favorite Potter film and this concept (floating helplessly in space) is one of those weird irrational fears that I have.  Not irrational in that it is not scary, but irrational in that I'm sadly never going to be in a position where I could be floating in space.

There's an episode of Battlestar Galactica ("Resurrection Ship") where Lee is floating in space that first made me realize how incredibly terrifying this would be.

I think I can overlook the Pillsbury Doughboy animation enough to really get into this movie.

I don't think it would be any worse than being alone in the middle of the ocean with nothing and not being able to stay afloat for long.

doublerdiner, that's exaclty it, the motion in the hands and arms seems off to me.

Still, I am interested in this
