Take-Two Interactive Software and Gotham Games have released their latest action-adventure title, THE GREAT ESCAPE, to stores. Based on the classic 1963 movie starring Steve McQueen as captured American soldier Virgil Hilts. Set in the German Stalag Luft III prison camp, Hilts and his fellow POWs plan to make their escape from their Nazi guards and be rescued by Allied forces. The movie was based on a real-life escape that took place from the real Stalag Luft III camp in March 1944.
In the game players will control Virgil and other fellow prisoners, each with their own unique abilities that add to their mission. For instance, McQueen's character is an expert at picking locks, allowing you to get the tools you need to start digging your tunnel. In addition to the stealth component of the game, there's plenty of action involving vehicular combat, shootouts, fisticuffs and driving. And yes, at one point in the game's 18 levels you'll get to drive the same famous motorcycle that Virgil took when he made his escape from the camp.
THE GREAT ESCAPE is priced at $39.99 and has been rated Teen. It's available for Xbox, PlayStation 2, Gamecube or PC-based systems. You can check out game screenshots and video segments
at the game's official website.
