Greedo 1:1 Scale Bust

By: News Editor
Date: Wednesday, November 23, 2005
Source: Sideshow Collectibles

Sideshow Collectibles has started taking pre-order for the Greedo 1:1 scale bust that was sculpted by Miles Teves.

The bust is cast in fiberglass with a polystone exterior, capturing every wart and bump of the Rodian's skin texture. The bulbous and semi-luminous eyes are cast in a semi-transparent purple, enhancing the eerie life-like quality of the bust. The bust is complete with Greedo's jumpsuit and vest, each captured in real fabric. The bust stands tall on a STAR WARS inspired display base, including the nameplate. The item is hand crafted and hand painted.

This life-size bust is 22" H (559mm) x 14" W (356mm) x 17" D (432mm). It will weigh approximately 30 lbs.

The item is priced at $599 and will ship in the third quarter of 2006.

The sad part is, this is the true Legacy left by the Star Wars Movies. The recent Trilogy is God awful, the Commercialism has taken Over, and we still don't know exactly what the force is, or who the jedi are. What we have instead are really cool action figures ,and a Greedo bust. If i ever see another Star Wars movie again, it will be too soon.

I guess it's a question of money for everyone here who is going nuts about this Greedo bust. If all of you had the money for this thing, you wouldn't be freaking out and you would buy it because it's cool, it's nice and you can afford it.

Don't blame Lucas because these busts are made, blame the people who keep buying them and as long as they exist, we haven't seen the last of these expensive bust.

As far as the latest trilogy goes, I am sick and tired of people comparing the old SW with the new SW. Guess what people, they are not the same, they were made not to be the same and of course you can't transport the magic from the first trilogy that came out to the second.

Lucas wanted to do it, people wanted to see them, if you went to see the newest trilogy and expected the same things as before, you are setting up yourself for disapointment and don't blame Lucas, blame yourself.

Of course the newest trilogy wasn't as magical then the first but, it was still fun to watch it, the special FX were really cool, the lightsabers battles were cool and the whole aspect of the Jedi's temple and them being protector of the galaxy was really nice. I liked the movies, of course not as much as the originals but, they were still fun to watch.

jedibanner has a point about how the prequels were not meant to emulate the classics...but...even as a stand alone movie notwhithstanding the classics the direction, acting and writing were just BAD. If it weren't for the millions spent on cgi special effects the prequels these movies wouldn't hold up at all.

The classics (pre Special Edition) will always ALWAYS have a nostalgic mythic role in a lot of people's lives--I went into illustration and ended up as an art director because I drew hundreds of SW scenes in the late 70's as a kid. They weren't that good as movies as well (I flinched at the introduction of the ewoks) but at least they were dynamic and accessible enough to be enjoyed thoroughly. The prequels were dumbed down Joseph Campbell mythos and you just didn't know who to root for or what the hell was going on.

"they were made not to be the same and of course you can't transport the magic from the first trilogy that came out to the second."

and why not? Why is it that everyone seems to think it would have been so impossible to replicate the success of the original classics?

I'm sorry but George had what, 15 years to come up with a decent reason why the Jedi could come back as a ghost and waited till the final 5 minutes of the final movie and then it was a throw-away line. I'm sorry but Lucas had what, 15 years to figure out a REAL honest to god reason why Obi Wan Kenobi (in all his infinite wisdom) would bring Luke Skywalker to Owen and Aunt Beru on Tatooine. I'm sorry but are you saying that after 15 years of thinking, Lucas couldnt have figured a better more inventive way of wiping out C-3P0's memories????
After 15 years, the payoff answers to these questions were never answered at all, rushed or just plain sucked. (in my opinion)

Are you really telling me that these movies could NOT have been written in such a way that they would have been good, entertaining and given the fans some answers?
thats crap... he had FIFTEEN YEARS to connect all the dots and failed to do so.. its us thats looking to him for answers, and he was supposed to provide us with some logical reasons why these events can occur and he DIDNT DO IT.
i mean damn, I've read some fan scripts that explained the "Jedi death ghost" "C-3Pio memory blank" and "Luke being on tatooine" better than Episode III did... it was a hack job.

FOR THE FANS?? hardly.

That's a valid point ''Mckracken'' but in the end, maybe the answers you were looking for in the movie wasn't what George Lucas wanted to ''explained'' to everyone.

You say the movies didn't give answers except for the last 5 minutes, well, in the end there wasn't that much to tie up and there is no need to have a huge, long and precise explenations for everything.

I mean, what's wrong with having 3PO and R2 getting their memories wiped out? What's wrong with Yoday telling Obi-Wan that Luke should be with his familly KNOWING that Anakin would never go look for them in the first place? That is a logic reason and to have Obi-Wan giving up his life to stay on Tatooine to protect Luke just in case, WHAT MORE DO YOU WANT???? What's wrong with Yoda teaching to Obi-Wan how to become immortals? Did you think that this type of power can be showned at any Jedi at any age? Of course not so, it's logic that after all these events, all the experience that Obi-wan got over the years, only near the end Yoda can teach that to someone so it is pure logic for that moment to happen in the end. I understood all that with just the movies and so a lot of other people.

Maybe the SW fans are just too picky and actually DREAM of the fact that Mr. Lucas OWES something to the fans....well, guess what, he doesn't owe jack sh*t to anyone and he still made the movies and it was still fun to see them.

I have more people who never really actually seen the old SW who said the really liked the latest trilogy, especially ROTS. Believe me people, we can feel lucky to be alive and having been through this whole experience and nothing that big will ever happen again in theatres, NOTHING!!
