Green Lantern 2 on the way! Plus: Spider-Man villain rumor. Green Hornet trailer news. Walking Dead shambles overseas and more! The daily column that loves it when a plan comes together, it's your Comics2Film 10.6.10!

We checked out The A-Team on Tuesday morning. We'll leave the job of writing a full it to Mr. Rob Vaux and only offer our two cents here: it's as loud and dumb as the TV series was and five times as fun. The cast works great together (surprise: Rampage is good!). If you can go along with the absurdity of, well, pretty much every scene, you'll have a good time. Grade: B.

BATMAN 3 Casting Rumors Restarted

Here's something we didn't miss: random casting rumors about Batman 3 villains.

Well, now that Nolan is talking about it again, move star gossip sheets like HollywoodLife are throwing casting stories against the wall and hoping something sticks.

The site claims that Joseph Gordon-Levitt is favored to play the Riddler in new movie. Gordon-Levitt is appearing in Nolan's Inception which drops next month.

Of course, their sources are unnamed and only Nolan and David Goyer know which villains appear in the film. Riddler and Catwoman have been presumed for the third installments by fans and the gossip mill for years. At this point we're going to dismiss this as made-up tabloid stuff, but expect some big revelations about Batman 3 as Inception passes and Nolan refocuses on the Dark Knight Detective.

C2F Quick Hits

  • IGN Movies reports that the first trailer for Green Hornet is set to arrive Monday, June 21 on Jimmy Kimmel Live, where America's next action hero, Seth Rogen, will be a guest.
  • AMC has sold the international to the comics-based The Walking Dead to Fox International Channels, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The show starts on AMC in October, followed by the global premiere via FIC.
  • Bleeding Cool is claiming that their secret Spider-Man source (the same one that's claiming that Jamie Bell is locked to play the lead in the movie) has told them that the villain character Michael Fassbender is circling is none other than The Lizard. On the other hand, Bleeding Cool admits less than 100% confidence in their anonymous source.

THE PHANTOM Trailer, Clip and Stills

Sci Fi Wire has posted the trailer for SyFy Channel's original movie The Phantom. The movie premieres June 20th at 7pm and features Ryan Carnes as a young, contemporary update of Lee Falk's classic comic strip character. Click to watch it.

Meanwhile the Comics Continuum has posted a gallery of images from the show as well as a clip:

Sad to say, we have to agree with scooper AntoBlueberry who sums up his reaction with a resounding "meh."

And, if you're comic strip tastes run towards sexy British rom coms, there's a new trailer for the Tamara Drewe movie. It's based on the comic by Posy Simmonds and stars Gemma Arterton in the lead. Stephen Frears directs.

It's not "THE RUNNING DEAD" Says Darabont

The official blog for The Walking Dead has posted a Q & A with director Frank Darabont about the currently-filming show. Darabont has a bit to say about Robert Kirkman's comics, the actors and the Atlanta location of the shoot.

Our favorite quote focuses on the great zombie debate started (perhaps) by Zack Snyder's Dawn of the Dead remake.

"Here's my favorite thing: the endless debate among the fans about how fast a zombie can move. There are the folks who just can't stand seeing zombies running. I'm kind of in that camp," Darabont revealed and then continued, "but if you look at the very first zombie in [Night of the Living Dead] - the one in the cemetery chasing Barbara, he gets up to a pretty good jog. I'm keying our zombie behavior off of that film: Whether they're in a very languid state or they're on the attack, they'll move no faster than that first zombie in Night of the Living Dead."

Click through for more from Darabont.

We're still about a year away from Green Lantern hitting theaters, but Warner Bros have already broken ground on the sequel.

Heat Vision reports that the writing trio of Greg Berlanti, Michael Green and Marc Guggenheim, who penned the script for the first film have been tasked to write a treatment for Green Lantern 2. Apparently the studio likes what they're seeing on the current film, directed by Martin Campbell and starring Ryan Reynolds.

The trio have also been tapped to write a treatment for The Flash. That bit of news is somewhat surprising as the studio had invested some capital in a script from DC Entertainment Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns and screenwriter Dan Mazeau, and the rumor from late May was that the studio was going to be moving fast on a speedster pic. The fact that Berlanti, Green and Guggenheim are going back to the treatment stage suggests the Johns/Mazeau work will largely be discarded.

Past rumors have also indicated that Berlanti is being considered for the job directing the Flash.

So help me, but ""Tamara Drewe" looks better than "The Phantom". The guy looks like Daredevil from "The Incredible Hulk Returns," but with an upgrade. He looks like he belongs in a cheap prime time cable show, not in a motion picture. (Does anyone still say "motion picture?")

Without any hint of the classic Phantom costume, he looks like a run-of-the-mill vigilante who got very lucky that the bad guys he runs into are as dumb as Batman's since they didn't shoot him in the face once they realized he was wearing body armor that looks like Darth Vader's hand-me downs.

You know, I've never been a zombie fan but I'm really looking forward to "The Walking Dead." So bring that on.

And the bat-villains, I think the Riddler will be too cartoony for this type of Batman, but something tells me they'll pull it off. And while I'm not a big fan of two villains per film, after seeing The Dark Knight with the Joker and Two-Face, I'm not worried if Catwoman is in the film with the Riddler. Because the Joker and Two-Face didn't try to out do each other and it worked out great. Until they decided to do something stupid and kill off Two-Face.

Spider-Man fighting the Lizard? I guess it's about time. He's certainly not the thinking man's villain as the Green Goblin was, but let's give it a try. But that doesn't mean I want to see the Lizard quoting Shakespeare either. Maybe Sony can do some out-of-the-box thinking with this new Spidey film and actually stay true to the characters. You know, what they didn't do in the last film.

And great news with Green Lantern and the Flash. It's a great time to be a comic book fan. Now how about Superman?

Tamara Drewe is a nice little movie. Predictable, but fun, with good actors. The best thing about it (apart from Gemma Arterton with few clothes on) is the portrayal of the boring life of two teenage girls in the British countryside and their sexual fantasies based on the things they read in the gossip magazines.

RE: GL and Flash - Berlanti & Co. are comic-book fans and writers, together with Geoff Johns they really could build the basis for the movie DC universe. Hopefully we'll get some kind of relese scheduling for the DC movies at the SD Comic-Con.

I remember when Depp was rummored that he wanted the riddler I still think he would do good as that charachter.

I'll wait for a trailer for the flash but I'm not getting my hopes up

Cant wait for october- bring on the walking dead!!!!!

a-team will be a rental

I;m still waiting for a trailer for the first green lantern but i have a feeling it will be a rental for me as well

Betenoire 6/10/2010 6:49:28 AM

...and halfway through making the second GL movie there will be talk the third is being planned-and it will be a reboot right.

Seriously, can't they just wait and see if people want a second after having a chance to even see the first before saying they are working on it?

todd890 6/10/2010 7:05:24 AM

Joseph would be a good choice for the Riddler.

The first Green lantern isn't even out and there's talk of another one. Why can't they wait to find out if people like the first one, I like Ryan as an actor, he's funny and knows how to entertain.

Is it me or is anyone else fed up of zombie films? I find there is too many of them lately.

The A-Team looks all right but the series was a mixture of mystery, action and comedy but so far the trailer looks all right but it may not have the same feel as the show.

Wiseguy 6/10/2010 7:19:14 AM

I am so looking forward to Green Lantern and them starting work on a script for the sequel only boosts my confidence that GL will kick ass.

I was under the impression that Johns work with DC Entertainment would be something akin to a gatekeeper. Making sure the writers stay true to the characters and fairly loyal to the comics, something ala Kevin Feige for Marvel or maybe Joe Q now with his new promotion. Either way DC seems to have a good team in charge so I think they'll do a good job, except for Nolan's Batman of course, that's already screwed up

For DC like Marvel I want to see the big guns, GL, Flash, WW and of course Aquaman and maybe Martian Manhunter

And after teasing Dylan Baker with the Lizard role for 2 movies they go ahead and recast the part, what a shame. Having said that I like Fassbender so can't say I'm disappointed.

Now, are they going to follow the comic and send Spidey down to Florida to fight the Lizard for the first time or will they follow Raimi's template

For Bats 3 I'd like to see them go into some real fantasy and introduce Killer Croc the way he's depicted in the comics and not like some guy with a skin condition. Wouldn't be something to have Killer Croc battle Batman the same summer Spidey faces off against the Lizard

I didn't know the A-Team was based on a comic book

The Phantom and the Green Hornet... What year is this? I mean I'm probably older than the average C2F reader and I have zero interest in these characters from yesteryear. These properties are just outdated and irrelevant. There is nothing to them. No "magic" that keeps people interested in them like The Lone Ranger or Tarzan. There is good pulp and bad pulp. Hornet and Phantom are part of the latter. That clip was god awful by the way. I just kept thinking shoot him in the chin!

That Gemma Arterton is is hot. Don't think I'll go to see this in the theater but maybe on DVD when my wife is looking for something to watch Ill suggest this.

As long as Angelina Jolie isn't playing Catwoman I'm cool with Batman 3

Glad to hear about the zombies in Walking Dead. They make a point in the comic about easily being able to out run and out maneuver them. And Snyders running zombies weren't the first. Check out Return of the Living Dead. They're the first I can remember seeing run.

noahbody 6/10/2010 9:07:50 AM

I think the "fresher" the zombie the faster it should move.

A-Team looks entertaining.

Nolan's Batman had two villains in the first movie also. Just don't know about the Riddler right after the Joker.

Not so sure about the Flash, but will definitely check it out.

MrJawbreakingEquilibrium 6/10/2010 9:17:15 AM

The Phantom is a cheap cable TV show.

Tired of zombie movies?  Too many?  Like what?  And nobody says you have to watch them all.  I know the few that are out aren't worth seeing so I haven't.  Win - win.

SONYMANswallows 6/10/2010 9:29:23 AM

Joseph Gordon Levitt who looks a llot like Heath Ledger minus a few inches and has darker hair. Did this come out of an interview where he talked about working with Ledger in 10 Things I hate about you?

I highly doubt they won't o the chick flick route and not include Catwoman since Rachel is gone. Or is Malaysian Transexual Halphonse Eddie Berry not allowing them to use the character he-she raped?

Mr T is on record as saying the Ateam sucks as was stated in the article from I sent to mania.

Murdock's laugh looks like it was forced out by the door in Suoerman the motion picture that pushes the cop into the train by Luthor. I always wondered what they did with that door.

Also is it true Robin Hood is being revamped into a gay musical-
