I took my daughter to see this during our trip to Hawaii this summer.  It managed to put a minor dent in an otherwise perfect week.  I was really looking forward to this film, as GL is my favorite DC character, alongside Batman.  Unfortunately, Ryan Reynolds is NOT Hal Jordan.  His trademark smarm and snark worked (poorly, but it worked) for a mostly unknown character like Hannibal King in Blade Trinity.  It does NOT work for Hal Jordan, King of the Anally-Affixed Light Constructs.  The script wasn't bad... it was AWFUL.  And Parallax looked ridiculous.  Campbell included lots of little details from the GL mythology at the cost of major plot points of said mythology.

This film was a C-/D .

So i guess DVD are the VHS of today. you have to shell out an extra $10 a BLURAY to get any extra features??? illegal downloads are killing hollywood how again?  lol

this movie had so much potential. it felt uneven and rushed. edited by a methhead with a 20 minute deadline. story sucked, Oz ...i mean parallax was laughable. carol was even more carboard then Hal. Hector Hammond and Sinestro and all the cool corp cameos saved this movie! its plus side, the design and effects where outstanding.

Um Tim, Mark Strong PLAYED Sinestro, he didn't just voice him. That was him in makeup and the cg suit. As for the film it could've and should've been much better. DId I hate it? no, but as a fan and after the very well done animated film "GL: First Flight"which also covered Hal's origin, I was disppointed. I mean they really could've used that same script and added to it to make it a bit longer and dropped the whole "green and yellow element" stuff but otherwise, the whole "Training Day" in space thing worked.

I thought all the alien lanterns, including Sineatro, were motion capture.

I don't buy the idea that people failed to go see Green Lantern because they'd never heard of the character.  Hellboy is far more obscure, and that did just fine.  Hancock wasn't even based on an actual comic book, and it was a huge success.  300, Kick-Ass, Men in Black, Daredevil, RED, Blade, Ghost Rider...  The list goes on and on.  GL failed all on it's own.
