monelonmonday, Johnston said on G4 that the film would be bookended (beginning and end) in the present with everything else being in WWII.

I'm not sold on the Captain America look, but I know the footage shown at Comic Con was from costume screen tests, so hopefully they modified it more.  The suit looked better in the renderings we saw a month or so ago.

Sinestro looks awesome!  I'm really looking forward to the Green Latern movie.  Plus, Martin Campbell has made the two best, most intelligent James Bond movies of the past 15 years, so you know he can do big budget fare with an adult sensibility.  I think Green Latern could be next year's Iron Man; the adaptation of a second tier comic hero that gets everyone, even non-fans, into theatres.

I think I agree with violator on Cap's costume. I think without the wings the head just looks too round and seems to be missing something. The wings, even if if smaller than the comics would add the bit that would make him identifiable just by his silhoutte and give him that extra something. Just like Batman would look somewhat generic without the big ears the wings may be what's missing

the wings look gay... No wings, unless they are painted on the helmet like in Ultimates (the best incarnation of the Avengers IMHO)

The Green Lantern posters all look pretty Awesome especially Sinestro. I'm glad they kept it like the comic. I'm looking forward to seeing Kilowag. That Reynolds clip was pretty cute. That kid  must have been happy as hell. Its good to see that.

As far as the Cap suit. It was a test shot. I think they put it up so that they could get a reaction from fans. Its early days in the production so they can go back and tweak the costume so its more appealing to what the fans want.

I wouldn't mind the wings if they were just painted on the sides. I bet there'll be a joke in the movie somewhere about them. If the Invaders are in this, I guess we'll see Toro and the original human torch. Aren't the Howling Commandos in it too?

According to Superherohype, who apparently interviewed Eva Longoria today, she's never been up for the role of "The Wasp" She said that she had a meeting about another Marvel movie a year ago but it wasn't for the Avengers and had nothing to do with Janet Van Dyne. So, who knows. I do hope the rumor is true about Nathan Fillion playing Hank Pym though. He would be great.

Okay  bear with me I gotta weigh in on a couple of these.  GL looks promising, and I have to agree that Reynolds is likeable even when he's in crappy roles or lousy films, he'll be fine as Jordan, we'll just have to see about the rest.  Hell I was on board when they had him pegged for Flash, but this works too.  They need to get that back on track.  Brad Pitt for Barry Allen anyone?

The Crow.  Let's hope this new writer is reading the original book and we ditch this whole reimagining crap.  The original Crow graphic novel is timeless.  James O'Barr has been very polite about his characters and world being raped so many times in films, but I think it's best for everyone if it just goes back to the source from here.  Modern filmmaking and cinematography could bring us a truly vivid adaptation of THE ORIGINAL COMIC.  The Proyas versian was good for what it was but great liberties were taken with the style and the visual aesthetic, and I would love to see a Rodriguez/Snyder-esque faithful as all hell adaptation.  Every word, every frame committed to film.  That book is PERFECT, and would make a great film if some of these directors or writers could get over themselves enough to be faithful to the source instead of highjacking the license so they can to their own "superior" version and blow it every time.  Either go back to the source, do it once and for all, not as a franchise picture, but as a true homage to one of the most influential pieces of graphic art in the last couple of decades, or let it die never to be ressurected.

Wiseguy I totally agree with you and every one else about the wings.  This ain't modern Cap'.  'Gotta have the Wings Marvel!  WWII Cap had wings.  For like 40 or 50 years after that too actually.  Wings!  Costume needs a little work.  I want to see that mail.  Still think they should have tried to get Pitt. He'd have been a better counterpart to RDJ, and if they hadn't blown it with Norton it could have been RDJ, Brad Pitt and Ed Norton along with Kirks Dad as Th

Thor, the most beautiful woman alive as Black Widow and the baddest Nick Fury imaginable after he stopped being white one day. If they'd pulled that off it would have been the greatest superhero teamup in human history.

Sorry about the sudden stop in the middle of that rant.  Evidently I hit the thumbpad and somehow told the computer I was ready to post.

ponyboy76 7/27/2010 4:58:15 PM

For the love of.. He hasn't stopped being white. Nick Fury is still white as hell in the Marvel 616 Universe and doing all types of spy stuff.

gauleyboy420 7/27/2010 6:11:48 PM

the movies are based on a more updated (BUT STILL TRUE TO THE ESSENSE OF THE CHARACTERS) Ultimate universe.

Ultimates kick the Avengers ass any day
