GREEN LANTERN to roll in Spring

By: Rob M. Worley
Date: Friday, October 03, 2008

IESB.net picked the brains of some Warner Bros executives and got them to comment on the slate of DC Comics based movies that have been rumored and discussed in recent weeks.

'The Dark Knight' Sequel: Recent rumors have indicated that there is pre-production work happening on the movie including some planned filming in Chicago next February. Not so, says the unnamed Warner executives. As most fans realize, the studio isn't going to do anything without director Christopher Nolan on board. While everyone wants a sequel, Nolan hasn't committed to a schedule yet.

'Green Lantern': The execs say the movie is in good shape and might start filming next spring.

'Justice League': As expected, this project has gone dormant. They would love to do it some day, but right now the focus is elsewhere.

'Superman: The Man of Steel': Interestingly, in spite of Bryan Singer and Brandon Routh saying at various times that they hope to do it next year, and in spite of Mark Millar teasing about his shadow effort to position an alternative to Singer, The execs say that the project is up in the air and they don't know where Singer or anyone else stands.

I could really go for a well written Superman movie. It is unreal that people keep messing up Superman movies. The first place they should look to is the source material, the comic books. There are some well written stories there that could be transferred to screenplays. You could get dozens of movies out of the available material.

Dumb asses will just start rolling on with a new Superman (reboot again) probably about decade after Returns was released.... and guess what, everyone will still be intrested. They know Superman will make money either way... sequel, prequel, reboot, my boot, shit boot, etc.

They screwed up with doin a quick sequel to Returns, so now they're stuck. I bet you that after Nolan is done with doing anymore Batmans, they're going to try to get him onboard a new Superman movie... and I'm sure most of us won't object either.

Only care that they make a great GL film. Batman has had his time in the spotlight forever, Singer screwed up Superman, now is DC's 3rd best character and my 2nd favorite to get some over due attention.
Hal Jordan will kick ass. Though I have many doubts about this Berlanti. Who the hell is this guy to be stepping in to direct GL? The script review from latinoreview gives me hope though.

Does anyone remember an old Justice League TV show from the eighties?

I honestly didnt think Superman Returns was THAT bad of a movie. I mean it definitely could have been better.... but i still enjoyed the new special effects of watching Superman in action.... Pretty cool.... And the theme music always gets me going.

But Anyways... Im excited to see what a Green Lantern movie will look like. I can usually picture what a cool comic movie will look like... but i cant seem to wrap my head around what a GL movie will look like.... if anyone even knows what i mean that is.... =T

Hold on a sec. Me & Wiseguy sent this Green Lantern news and were told it wasn't news. Now all of a sudden it is news?

I vaguely recall a live action show with the JLA going against the Legion of Doom.
I think I may have seen one or two shows. My memory is shot, maybe I dreamed it.

It's funny how great the internet is. You brought back that memory, did a quick search and here is the one I was referring to, here's a link
http://www.superheroeslives.com/dc/legends_of_the_superheroes_(1979).htm

And as you can see it was actually late 70's, maybe it spilled into early 80's. But that explains why I can barely remember it.

hanso,
I think the comics section is runned by Rob from comics2film. Remember this is where I said I may be hanging out more frequently cause it's all comic book related.
