GL sucked. We all called it here for weeks. Cant polish a turd. Some good parts and characters but over all it stinks. To bad because I was hoping for a good film to launch DC films but its a no go.

@decepticons2 - I live in Lexington, KY and one of our Cinemark theaters has $4 matinee prices on all new, non 3D movies before 6pm.  We go see a new movie every weekend almost.  For some of the prices you guys are mentioning, I would be a lot more selective about which movies we saw.  $12 for a movie?  Crazy.

If it smells like crap, looks like crap and feels like crap...then it must be crap.

It has NOTHING to do with the critics thinking too much or not understanding the character, the movie is just not as fun as it should've been (it had it's moment but nowhere near anything inspiring) and failed to be cohesive and felt flat.

GL is maybe loved by millions of fans but, I don't remember who pointed out earlier but, the common non-geek fan couldn't care less about this character and the appeal was just not there for the general populus to show and like the movie.

Iron Man was unknown to many but, the movie was excellent and the general consituants showed up because it was a good movie, GL was not a good movie and like I said earlier, if most of everyone says one general idea (that one being it's not a good movie), then it must be true and so far, it's yet to be proven otherwise.

DC has the right to say they want to go their own way in their movies but, other then Batman, this new breed of DC movies HAS TO take a good look at Marvel and how the movies are made.

This was a good movie....Better than Thor (B grade) and on par with X first classe.  The critics are do you give Thor a B and this a C- is crazy!  This movie was better than any of the spidey file (except the first), better than Superman Returns and all of the X's (expect the first).  I would watch it again over all those movies!!  Maybe the Critics needs Critics ( D-)!

WTF my comment was deleted!!! Nice way to block freedom of speech! Was no curse words or anythign bad about anyone...was a spoiler but i put up a larger warning before posting it. Besides if you havent seen it opening weekend then you arent a geek or mania...ur a n00b so spoilers after the movie is out arent really spoilers,.

I agree with you Wiseguy. I went in to the movie yesterday feeling a little nervous that I spent $17 for a bad movie, but I was blown away when I left. Hammond was a little weird and kinda cried like a girl, but he as still pretty sinister. Parallax was cool, and I think it sets up a sequal very well (those of you who have seen it know what I refer to). I was definitely suprised and entertained.

Cap. is going to be awsome. It is also my top for the year. I've also heard about little to no CGI in this one.

I saw Green Lantern on Saturday. I thought certain aspects of it were good, like Hal Jordan's story and the Green Lantern homeworld. But the villains were terrible. One was a stereotypical nerdy outcast who turned to the dark side because he was upset about never being able to get the girl. And the other one was a swirling cloud of turds (seriously, that's what it looked like to me) that was very one-dimensional. No real motivation other than "RAHHH, I'm scary, I'm powerful, and I'll be even scarier and more powerful after I eat you. Fear me. RAHHH."

On a side note... If you ignore the absurdity of willpower being channeled into a ring, the Green Lantern mythology was actually fairly well done in this movie. I enjoyed that part of it.

I really hope that a second Green Lantern film is made; because if it is, then (as the final after-credits scene showed) we'll finally get a proper villain.

Yeah Delgado the cinemark here (Oklahoma city) is like that too. Except it's 3.75 for matinee and 5.75 for evening shows. That's where I go to see movies if I'm skeptical (transformers dark of the moon). That way worst case scenario you spent five bucks to see Revenge of the Fallen and you don't leave nearly as pissed.

Darkknight2280 6/20/2011 8:45:34 AM

Yeah well the final scene (after credits) made NO sense as pertaining to the movie! I cant really say why or else my comment will be deleted. There was no motivation for what happened after the credits to happen then to just say heres what might happen if a sequel is made. But i dont think it will happen if they cant make another $250 million to just recoop the production and advertisment costs. Then they have to make more to even profit. I dont think it has the legs to do that.

The whole thing is absurd! I mean they are flying in space and making things up with their mind. So why is will power being channeled into a ring more absurd then all of that? Fantasy itself is absurd compared to reality. Maybe its innaccurate as compared to the comics..I think absurd is the wrong word in this context.

jedibanner- i dont think the general consensus on Mania is that it sucked yet. It seems somewhat split to me, so stop trying to establish an opinion as some sort of fact. I still think it was a great movie!
