Just got back from Guardians, and I don't regret bitching about it for the past year.  It was entertaining enough, and surprisingly not my least favorite Marvel Studios movie (that honor stays with Thor2), but it was by far the most formulaic and predictable Marvel flick.  The only parts that really had my interest were the various pieces setting up Marvel's Infinity project, likely for Avengers 3.  I won't spoil but there is a decent amount of Marvel's cosmic background.  There is next to no background on the main characters however and even less on the villains and the environment.  Another 15 minutes of screen time would have helped that.  I also didn't like the morphing of Josh Brolin's features into Thanos' face, which looked perfect at the end of Avengers.  His voice is good though.  All in all I still would much have preferred Dr. Strange, Black Panther, the Inhumans and about a dozen other properties got made before this one, but I didn't feel like my money was wasted, even though I still think the raccoon is stupid.

This is easily my fav Marvel film to date. Watched one trailer so not to spoil and wasn't disappointed at all. All characters played well and the effects were great. The 3D could have been left behind but didn't ruin a thing. Thanos for his minor parts was f**king amazballs. Admittedly his look was slightly off but his demeanor and his threat to Ronan and the way it was delivered was spot on.

Bring the Awesome Mix Vol 2.

Yes jimmyzee, I don't share the same opinion as you so I must be stupid.   I'm so clueless I actually like a little backstory explanation for movie characters and I'm even such a moron as to naively hope to see at least an attempt at something original rather than another cliche ridden version of the classic literary Heroes Journey first identified by Campbell 70 years ago and produced ad nauseum ever since.  I wish I was more intellectually able so that I could've truly apprectiated all the pretty explosions and brillianlty crafted one liners from the space raccoon like you did.
