I haven’t seen this one yet, I’m sure you Maniacs will tell if you have, but it appears we have a new Guardians of the Galaxy trailer. This one is along the same lines as the first ,one only less music and more footage. The summer clearly belongs to Marvel and this movie will top it off!

Official Synopsis: From Marvel, the studio that brought you the global blockbuster franchises of Iron Man, Thor, Captain America and The Avengers, comes a new team – the Guardians of the Galaxy.  An action-packed epic space adventure, Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” expands the Marvel Cinematic Universe into the cosmos, where brash adventurer Peter Quill finds himself the object of an unrelenting bounty hunt after stealing a mysterious orb coveted by Ronan, a powerful villain with ambitions that threaten the universe.  To evade the ever-persistent Ronan, Quill is forced into an uneasy truce with a quartet of disparate misfits – Rocket, a gun-toting raccoon, Groot, a tree-like humanoid, the deadly and enigmatic Gamora and the revenge-driven Drax the Destroyer.  But when Peter discovers the true power of the orb and the menace it poses to the cosmos, he must do his best to rally his ragtag rivals for a last, desperate stand – with the galaxy’s fate in the balance.  Marvel’s “Guardians of the Galaxy” is presented by Marvel Studios.

Guardians of the Galaxy releases August 1, 2014, and is distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.

Some of this is new for me.  This is looking better and better.  I'll be there opening weekend.  The visuals are fantastic.

Yes! A little more on the opening scene, plus a nice look at Starlord's mask - AWESOME!

This is gonna be better than Avengers for me.  Has that Firefly/Galactic/spacecowboy feel and a fresh cast of characters.

ElBaz13 4/9/2014 6:28:33 PM

Ok. Wiseguy has to be on vacation or in the middle of nowhere and no internet access. Too quiet from his side.

I still hate that they're making this instead of any of a dozen other Marvel titles.  Even if it has to be a "space team",  the Inhumans are better choice.  I just will not be able to get past that damned raccoon.  So stupid.  I'll give them credit for making (ugh)Starlord look accurate, but they somehow pulled off the magic trick of making Zoe Saldanna look (nearly) unfuckable.  I'm going to end up forgiving Marvel for this one because I know it's going to play into some kind of phase 4 Infinity Gems project which will rock my face off, but still, DIE YOU STUPID RACCOON!

reek you may not like the stupid raccoon but I think kids are going to go nuts for him and that Tree guy.  I imagine they'll be far and away the best selling action figures.  I'm not sure how Disney / Marvel is planning to play this...but if they target families like the original Star Wars trilogy could be a real blockbuster. The "A" Hole reference in the trailer makes me wonder if that's the way they're going to go.

Kelso I also think I'm going to like this more than the Avengers. I agree it looks like an old wild west action movie dressed up like a Sci-Fi adventure.  I can watch the Avengers for free whenever I want on Amazon Prime videos or Netflix and I never have an urge to see it a second time (in contrast to that, I've seen the first Ironman movie a half a dozen times).

Yeah, not much different from the others I've already seen online and in front of Winter Soldier.

And anyone else seen Noah?  Went to see it last night and was thoroughly disappointed.  Honestly found it rather boring and didn't think it was Russell Crowe's best performance.  And The Watchers were a little too Lord of the Rings for me.  I found myself nodding off two thirds of the way in and it was an 8:35 showing.  Ray Winstone might have been the one saving grace.  But maybe I was just kinda movied out.  Lol!  I saw Winter Soldier on Sunday night, Bad Words (which was friggin hilarious!) Monday night, and then Noah last night.  But I stand by my opinion that it was kind of a lame cross between LOTR and Clash/Wrath of the Titans with some vague Bible references sprinkled in.  If I had to demand my money back for the three movies that I've seen so far this week, it would definitely be Noah.

Correction, this summer will belong to the King of Monsters.

I don't know anything about Guardians of the Galaxy, other than I think Avengers 3 may have some of the original team Guardians fighting Thanos.

I also think Rocket may be the one to save the movie.. But who knows, Marvel can do whatever they want.

I am proud to see Winter Soldier controlling the silliness of these films. Gives me something to appreciate

Marvel will be cranking up the marketing on GotG. I bet the next trailer will feature Rocket and Groot.

reek 4/10/2014 8:11:53 AM

@Blankczech, the bestselling action figure will still be (ugh)Starlord, but I'bet the Raccoon and the Tree will  be number 2 and 3.  You're right, kids probably will love GotG, but that plays in to my fear of what Marvel studios movies will eventually become now that Disney owns them.  I also don't dispute that the movie will be successful; like most Marvel movies, it will at least double its production budget.  As I said before, there just are SO MANY other Marvel properties that would make for better movies.
