I have faith this is going to rock. I like the way they handled the galactic imagery on Thor, so I think if they get the right director this can look very aweseome!

SarcasticCaveman 8/17/2012 12:38:32 PM

Yeah, I remember some people here moaning and wondering how they were going to work Thor into the somewhat realistice Iron Man universe that Jon Favreau started, and that turned out great...but I will say the success or failure of Guardians relies on how tongue-in-cheek they play it.  I still say they should really look at Ben Edlund (The Tick, Titan A.E., Angel, Supernatural) for a script.

The origin/plot sounds a bit like Corsair's and the Starjammers too.

alienstatue I'm with you a million percent. This movie will be awesome. Star Wars was a new property at one point and had a bunch of ridiculous looking characters.

This is right up my sleeve, sci/fi fantasy and I can not wait. Be ready to be surprised once again you naysayers.

I agree Wyldstaar. Heck it can even be the Gauntlet itself. Who's to say this doesn't take place before THOR

Btw, this team has been around far longer than Farscape

ElBaz13 8/17/2012 3:04:37 PM

You are right Wiseguy. I thought I read an article somewhere that the Farscape creators were "influenced" by the Marvel Guardians.

The original Guardians appeared in 1969. The 20th century human (Vance Astrovik) was taken to the 31st century and led this group of heroes. The current lineup was formed in 2008 and the Star-Lord Peter Quill is their leader.

They are essentially taking the same idea from their comics but no 31st century crap.

Maybe Ben Browder should play Peter Quill?

Thanos will be the villian and it will involve the infinity gems.   The teaser at the end of Avengers featuring Thanos was not for the Avengers, but for GOTG.  They will not go "outer space" again for the Avengers.  It would be too much "been there done that".  It will be Ultron or some other threat for Iron Man and his band of misfits.

zipahead 8/17/2012 3:42:26 PM

aww jeez.. they are really going through with this. What a waste of leverage..they could make such a kick-ass She hulk movie.

Wiseguy 8/17/2012 3:43:35 PM

My money was on Mandarin being the main villain for A2. He's powerful enough and reportedly is more a behind the scenes character in IM3 which screams set-up for Avengers

SarcasticCaveman 8/17/2012 3:55:07 PM

Ultron would be cool...if they go the Ultron route, I would love to see them use Agent Phil as the movie version of The Vision.

And for those of you worried about GotG being Marvel's "Green Lantern"...whatever...GL is from a studio that STILL doesn't have the sense to make a "World's Finest" movie.

InnerSanctum 8/17/2012 4:39:06 PM

Well, since the are introducing Ant Man (assuming Hank Pym) then it would be feasible that Ultron could be added as, at least, one of the villians (Egghead is just to, well, silly.  Puppet Master?)  I'd like to see them go dark with Hank/Janet in A2.
