I think Thanos appearance in GOTG will be a way to introduce him to the public just to show how much of an evil, twisted badass he is. Just like Thor introduced Loki to the public to show just how much of a threat he could be.

I wouldn't be surprised if Starlin is given an on screen opening credit for creating Thanos and or consulting producer credit. It would be a way to head off any negative publicity plus it would be only fair.

Ah the whole Jim Starlin issue with Avengers.

Several months ago, Mr Starlin complained about the whole paying his ticket thing and not getting better acknowledgement (although his name is listed in the end credits with a few Marvel writers) and then ruffling feathers on his FB page showing a picture of Thanos he created prior to introducing him in Marvel Comics. He didn't threaten to take it to court but it was no doubt a statement he was making to Marvel/Disney for using "his" character.

Fastfoward today and Mr Starlin confirmed (on CBR) at Montreal Comic Con that "a deal is in the works to get Thanos in GofG and Avengers 2".  A deal? I'n guessing maybe Disney listened to his gripe and are trying to make amends. Maybe pay him a royalty fee, acknowledge him more in the end credits and hey why not give him a movie cameo?

I say kudos to both parties. Kudos to Starlin for sticking up to his creation and kudos to Marvel for not being jerks about it.

I might be in the minority here, but I"m looking forward to this movie more than Iron Man 3 and Captain America 2! Marvel going galactic is just perfect words to my ears! When I close my eyes and imagine Avengers type battle, but in space, I get amped for this. The only thing I'm not convinced on (yet) is Gunn as the director, but only because I haven't seen Slither or watched Super all the way through.

I think the Guardians of the Galaxy will give us a detailed look at what makes Thanos tick, and what he is capable of. I also think it will end with the Guardians winning a battle and losing the war, forcing them to tuck and run to Star-Lord's home planet.

In fact I think we'll see Star-Lord may end up being someone who was fighting aliens (piloting a jet at the time) at the end of the Avengers movie, then gets sucked through the wormhole and ends up in another part of the Universe. He'll probably end up in the middle of the Chitaurri empire, get taken prisoner, where he meets some of the other members (Also prisoners) of the GotG. They'll escape, thwart some maser plot that Thanos has in mind, before heading back to earth to get help from Iron Man, Thor and the rest of the gang.

That's my guess.
