GUNSLINGER GIRL

"The girl has a mechanical body. However, she is still an adolescent child."
Gunslinger Girl is about a group of girls who work as assassins for a secret government organization. The organization saves girls who are on the verge of death, suppresses their memories and feelings, and has them undertake military training so that they can work with them on missions. The girls are assigned overseers who are their partners on those missions, and basically take care of their lives. The series focuses on the girl Henrietta and her overseer, Jose (not Spanish pronunciation). Henrietta is very quiet, but very eager to please Jose, so much so that she typically overdoes things because she thinks too much about them. On their mission, she wants to help Jose, so when one of the terrorists that they're investigating points a gun at his throat, she spring into action, nearly ruining the mission. Luckily, even with all the people she killed, they still find the one that they were looking for. Unfortunately, headquarters is displeased with Henrietta's actions, saying that she's nearing the end of her usefulness, and even suggesting that Jose should get a new girl soon. When Jose is visibly upset by this, his older brother says that he's getting too attached to them, but Jose just says nothing.
So basically, we have a nice little series about growing up, except with robot assassin girls, or something. I actually enjoyed this episode, even if it's a little bit silly, because it has a nice mood set by the classical music and designs for the series, some interesting character interaction at the end that seems promising, and well-done, not overdone, action scenes. The entire episode is very somber, and as a whole presentation comes out very nice. Lastly, the OP/ED are also very in-tune with the rest of the show, where even the action scenes seem to go at a nice medium pace. :)
