I never thought I'd be writing the words Guy Ritchie and Sherlock Holmes in the same article but here it is. Variety is reporting that the Snatch director is taking on the charge of bringing a new mystery adaptation of the iconic investigator to the big screen for Warner Bros. This adventure will be based on a new "Sherlock" comic book by Lionel Wigram and Dan Lin. The studio is looking for a 2010 release.

Plot Concept:
The logline remains under wraps, but executives at Warners are aiming to reinvent Holmes and sidekick Dr. John H. Watson. Wigram's noted that the new Holmes would be more adventuresome and take advantage of his skills as a boxer and swordsman.

Well, okay, as long as when they say "reinvent", they don't mean make it so we don`t actually see Sherlock Holmes and he ends up being more like John McClane. I`ve always liked the Holmes stories. Making him a little more adventurous would be cool as long as he`s still using his unrivaled intellect to solve the case. I hope Moriarty is in this too.

Great, just what I want to hear one of the greatest detectives of fiction rant on about Madonna.

Warner, YOU HAVE CHRISTOPHER NOLAN… PERFECT FIT!

Get the modern day Sherlock Holmes to play the part, Dr. Gregory House!

Loved your opening line Jarrod. Wow. Yeah. Okay. I’m open to this, at least until a see a little more about it. Any idea if that comic is out yet and if so who’s putting it out? Dynamite has actually come out with some really well done Lone Ranger & Zorro comics. I’d feel better if the book was coming out by them but I don’t think I’ve seen anything for it.

And a very good point mykl.

Hanso, if Hugh Laurie plays Holmes, then the only one to play Watson is - Kimbo Slice!

I thought Ritchie was up for J.Silver's Sgt. Rock after RocknRolla.
Well if nothing else sounds like an interesting experiment.

Given that everyting he's done since Snatch has been underwhelming at best and just plain awful at worst, we can only hope for a no shit Sherlock.

Just when I thought I was out, Monkeyfoot pulls me back in.

Word yo, Watson = Kimbo.

Kimbo Slice son!!!

Yeah, what ponyboy said. Adventurous is fine, as long as Holmes doesn't become a superhero vigilante. He is first and foremost a brilliant detective. If you want an action hero, fine, put Slice in there as Watson.
