Halle Berry says No to "Storm" spin-off

By: Karl Schneider
Date: Thursday, April 05, 2007

According to Empire Magazine, Halle Berry has rebuffed claims that she would sign on to star in a Storm X-Men spin-off film.

"That absolutely is not true and will never happen. Not with me anyway," said Berry.

Berry starred as Storm in all three X-Men films, and reports have suggested that she was approached regarding a spin-off concept surrounding her character.

No word on if they may try and proceed without her.

Gragh!! Enough with the spin-offs. Lose Ms. Ego, recast her, or do X4 without Storm! Just do X-Men 4. And spend more than two weeks on the script.

No big loss. I always thought she was the weakest part of all three films. At least they ditched the horrible accent after the first movie. In my opinion Vanessa Williams should have played Ororo Munroe from the beginning.

Darn!! No Storm spin-off.

No really though. I don't see what the problem is. This is actually good news.

she learned her lesson from Catwoman.

X3 ruined the franchise for me. I'd rather see them stop, or do a reboot.

And they probably have to wait awhile for a reboot. But I really want to see them do the original five. Or something like the Krakatoa story. Maybe a half and half.

Hugh Jackman was great as Wolverine, but the series is stale.

Just in case, spoilers ahead.

They don't have to stop or reboot. All they need to do is correct some casting errors (Berry for one), get a different director, and a new writer who has better respect for the source material. Watering down the Phoenix Saga so much that only the name Phoenix and her great power are recognizable is about as wrong as you can go. I could almost forgive Juggernaut being changed to a mutant if not for that stupid line (you know which one I'm talking about). I was so disappointed that the only sign of Sentinels was a head in the War Room. There are tons of good material that could be tapped which would save the franchise. The fact that the cure wasn't permanent was the only redeeming value. That way Mystic, Magneto, and Rogue can still come back if they give them something worth coming back to.

Actually, I think the Rogue character was more useless than Storm. They need to recast her also

Thank God, Allah, Odin, Satan and all those other beings for making this possible.

No on wanted to see you in X2 and I damn sure didn't care if you were in X3, although I can't fully blame you for how bad it was.

They don't need to reboot in my opinion, as Bodhi says, just get a better writer, director and recast some parts. Stewart, McKellen, Ashmore, Grammer, Marsden, Jackman ,Jansen, Romijn, Foster, Cudmore and Page were perfect in their respective roles. Berry was the only problem. Although, while I like Paquin, Singer should have cast someone with more of a physical presence for Rogue. They should have had her like the comic, but I understand where Singer was coming from. They could always recast her , having absorbed Ms Marvel`s powers by now. Any fitness/figure model with a southern accent and some decent acting chops would do.

I'd like to see a second stand-alone trilogy. Perhaps call it The Uncanny X-Men. I thought X3 was decent. A lot of people hated it, but when you compare it to Batman & Robin, Catwoman, and DareDevil, it was pretty exemplary.
