Halloween with Alex Ross

The New York Times ran a story yesterday of interest to fans of comic book artist Alex Ross (MARVELS, KINGDOM COME), namely, a cool Halloween party thrown by the artist at his new home. Ross threw his spectacular Halloween bash last weekend, dressing up as the purple-clad 1930s pulp adventurer The Phantom to greet his guests.
The article spends time examining the impact Ross' photorealistic painted artwork has had on comic books, as well as his stunning success. One of the photos in the Times article shows what Ross calls his "fortress of solitude of collectibles": a lavish room that contains hundreds of action figures, busts and models of superheroes, each a collectible. Commence the drooling.
"It's as if a 15-year-old won the lottery and bought this big house and filled it with the coolest stuff in the world," added Chip Kidd, author of several books focusing on caped crusaders (and who attended Ross' part as mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent.)
