Halo Live Action TV Series

From Steven Spielberg?

By Robert T. Trate     May 22, 2013

Now don’t get too excited. It seems as if the uber popular video game, Halo will get it’s own TV series. The cool news is that Steven Spielberg, (Jaws, Saving Private Ryan, ET) will be bringing the show to life. The odd news is that the series “will be commissioned exclusively for Xbox Live”.

Spielberg had this to say, "The Halo universe is an amazing opportunity to be at that intersection where technology and myth-making meet to produce something truly groundbreaking".

Where does the logic lay in releasing this series solely for those that have an Xbox and play the game? Wouldn’t it be wiser to release the series on cable or network TV and bring in new fans?

Sound off below Maniacs!

I believe they are doing the Xbox Only thing to coincide with the new Xbox one, which is beyond amazing btw.  They'll probably only show it to xbox players exclusively. After that, im sure it will be released to the other channels/ dvd releases.

But with that said can i say, WOW OH FUKKING WOW!!! Steven Spielberg is making HALO!!! This couldnt be a wetter of a dream for gamers/genre fans. This is one of those projects that could have easily come out horrible in the wrong hands, but now I just cant wait to see what's to come.

Exclusive? To what? X-Box? Yeah, right. I will download it the night it air from any number of websites. LOL Exclusivity is a delusion these days.

I hope it kicks ass though.  I look forward to downloading it and watching it on my PS3.

I was blown away by this announcement.  Very surprising but then again Forward onto Dawn was pretty good to.  So they know they have the capabilities.  Very excited to see this.   Although it makes me mad as I was hoping to hold out until next year.  The new system looks crazy and the Media focus works for my needs as I fight the wife and my son who use it for Gaming to Netflix and such.

In a way it makes sense to only offer it to the X-Box users but it kind of limits your audience...and let's face it this will be available the day after for ANYone to watch it.

I'm curious if PS4 will respond in kind and bring other exclusives only to the Sony users also.

I've never been a gamer so I don't have an Xbox and currently have no plans for one, and I've never been good at any of those torrent sites. So unless somebody slips me a high quality file or DVD I probably won't see it until it gets officially released to the general public.

Thought I read about this a few weeks ago. The XBOX only thing sounds like bad marketing. Why limit your audience. Few people are going to spend $500 on a new console just to watch a show. (Well, then again.) It'll probably be exclusive for the premier and then make it's way over to premium streaming services.

However, Axia statement is the most likely outcome.

Ahoy ye scurvy dogs! Tis a tar-rents o' dandy delights awaiting y' as in the Pirates Bay!

If your a fan of Halo your probably going to buy the One at release. Why should they care about non fans of Halo?

Great job everyone, Windows 8 has been a smashing success; however, we need some new ideas to keep the gravy train moving.  Ideas anyone?

I have one; let's spend a ton of cash and hire the Beard to produce a series based on Halo then we'll market it to our already loyal customers instead of casual or non Microsoft gamers which would increase XBOX and XBOX games sales!

Brillian; let's move on it ASAP

Microsoft is so clueless!

This was the highlight of the otherwise lackluster announcement event.  And the fact that Spielberg is involved made both my heads explode.  I'm looking forward to E3 way more now so we can see the exclusive games.  That is what is going to sell this box, not all the cross media capabilities and cross platform games like COD.  At least they said they have 8 new IP exclusives, I just want to see them now.
