Universal Pictures upcoming film HALO, based on the popular video game, has a new writer lending his pen to the project.

DB Weiss told Game Set Watch, "I write for film now, mostly appropriately enough, I'm currently adapting Halo for producers Mary Parent, Peter Jackson and Fran Walsh. I've got another novel finished that needs a second draft and maybe someday, I'll be able to work in games. I certainly hope so."

Alex Garland (28 Days Later) wrote the previous draft.

DB Weiss is the author of 2003's Lucky Wander Boy, a critically acclaimed fictional story dealing with obscure video games.

You know what would be nice? Instead of getting yet another writer, they actually get a director. Latino Review gave Garland's script their highest rating. I have no idea if they were right or not, but they did make an interesting point. It's that when more writers are called in to rewrite a script, it's usually a degenerative process. I hope that's not what's happening here, but the fact that they're seemingly constantly rewriting the script and they still have no director is troubling.

I thought that they were looking at Guillermo Del Toro to direct?

Guillermo del Toro was rumoured to direct, but I thought he had moved on to other projects, such as "Hellboy 2" and "Killing on Carnival Row." I could be wrong, though.

Hmmm...seeing as how this is a film based on a Microsoft product, would it be that surprising that it be has all of this trouble before ultimately crashing?

err..I meant "that it has all of this trouble", sorry for the 2nd posting...

when it finally does come out, a few weeks later they will have to release another version because the first had editing problems.

I still say this is a bad idea, though I hope I'm wrong.

Pony, they would not release another version, they would simply put out a Service Pack to cause more problems.

But it would be funny to go see the movies and see the Blue Screen of Death on the Big Screen...

I don't want to be a kill joy, but I think Guillermo del Toro would be the wrong director for this. I don't see why Jackson wouldn't do it himself. Halo has an epic feel, and it would be cool to see him switch up and go to space.
