Hammer Still Hoping to Play Bats in JUSTICE LEAGUE

With four emails in my inbox on this silly bit of speculation, I'll publish it. Props to Maniacs Joeybaloney and TheWatcher for this weekend discussion. It seems that actor Armie Hammer ("Reaper") is still holding out hopes that he will play Batman in Justice League Mortal for Warner Bros. The only problem with those hopes is the fact that this project is dead. It's already collecting dust in development hell and will likely stay there for years to come with Warner Bros. recently switching out their gameplan for comic properties (individuals play more importance then team-ups).

Still, let's hear what Hammer had to say about his would-be role of Batman in the dead project, as he says to E Online.

He's already been fitted for the superhero costume, which he says features functioning equipment, including trademark Batman weapons like spring-loaded titanium Bat-erangs. "I was looking down, and I was thinking, This is the best," Hammer said off the first time he put on the entire ensemble. "Then I stood up, and they turned me around, and I faced a mirror—there was Batman. But then it hit me like a ton of bricks—it's not just Batman, it's me!"

When asked between the differences of his Bat portrayal versus Christian Bale's version, Hammer had some light hearted humor to pass along.

"[My] codpiece is bigger."

For training to play the Bats character, he went an odd direction.

"I would spend hours training with actual guns to prepare me for this stuff," Hammer said. "It was very intense. Our workout regimens were so rigorous that most of us would vomit."

He added, "We weren't trying to get ourselves aesthetically good looking. We were trying to get ready for the demands of shooting."

Justice League Mortal may come to theaters sometime within the next decade. Or it may not.

Batman shouldn't even know what it FEELS like to fire a gun. This kind of makes me glad that the Justice League movie is in D-Hell.

And here is to the hope it stays in Hell…

Who in their right mind in Warner would think these “actors” they auditioned for any of this movie would work or be accepted.
I am all for giving a younger actor/actress a chance but come on… the WB is the LAST place to look not first.

I'm still waiting on an explanation from someone on that STUPID f-ing title!! "Justice League Mortal"?! What does that even mean?! It sounds like someone confused the movie project with the forthcoming DC vs. Mortal Kombat video game (which I will be avoiding like the plague after having seen the trailer for that piece of shit).

As for Armie Hammer, I think he's trying to drum up some work for himself or keep himself involved with a Justice League project via rumor control. Sadly, he doesn't seem to be experienced enough with Hollywood to do it right or to any effect. On what movie EVER did they start fitting the cast for costumes before they even had a working script?! Was it "Backwards Day" at Warners? I write this all up as a straight out lie.

Lastly... this guy's resume on imdb reads like a glorified extra. There's no WAY they would ever actually cast him as a major superhero... hell, I doubt anyone would cast him as Ambush Bug.

Unless they decide to finally put Bruce Wayne on Smallville... THEN I would put MONEY on it.

They'd be better off making an Ace and Gary movie.

I'm so glad this movie is in development hell...

Thanks for the props Jarrod!!
