Please god no.

The best way to do something like these would be to bring them to small screen movie channel with unknowns for the roles playing the younger versions. Too many silver screens and they'll end up with over saturation and shooting themselves in the foot! I've been reading alot of expanded universe novels and own 25 of them. The best way is to split these among TV and silver screen wisely to keep interest peaked and not scoffed at when another comes barreling in on us.

And HELL NO! to all of your actor suggestions so far! GJL is a joke! Good acting, but now he's the lastest SHIA!

I liked all of the Early Han Solo Novels, Well the 6 I read anyway.  I can see a few of them being made into pretty good movies.

Garret Hedlund is a great suggestion, I have to think that Armie Hammer is gonna be in some way, shape or form in these Star Wars films, maybe as young Han Solo?  He is only 26.......He's probably a lock for the next Batman too.......

I loved all the Han Solo stories I read back in the 90's, I'm pretty sure there were 6 of them, 3 of them were the young Han Solo tales that told his entire origin right up to taking the job with Jabba that makes him a marked man by Ep IV.    Great stories there that they could pull from.......so many possibilities!!!!  I just don't know why anybody would complain about any of these rumours about Star Wars right now?!?   Isn't it the ultimate time to be  fan right now?  So many things to look forward to!!!

I'm with ya, wish...but just be Empire's advocate here, there is always the chance that we will all be disappointed in some way.  I know my hopes are WAY up now, knowing the plans that Disney has made.  But with all the potentially bad directors who want to make Star Wars their own, or with all the hack screen writers who want to prove something to their generation?...well, this quote sums it up:

"...it is possible, however unlikely, they will find a weakness...and exploit it."

I could see Garret as Han, but he'd have to do some serious voice training. He'd have to talk and act like Han. Harrison Ford is one of the greats, and would be difficult to emulate. Jango Fett, ..... the actor cast as him in the clone wars was pathetic. Put a real person into it and give him a background story. We're already attached to the character. But, i agree, it all needs to be headed back to episode seven.Do some side bar movies like marvel did and bring them all together in episode 7. ... and move on from there. The thing is, someone needs to play Luke Skywalker, as he will be the most pivitol character in episode 7. They can't mess that one up. If they do these side bar movies, Mark Hamill will be too old by the time that comes along. (unless they film it now and release it ten years from now.)

addendum to my last post.... if they were truly going to do justice to a Boba Fett stand alone movie, it really would need to be character driven. Could you imagine Daniel Day Lewis doing a character driven Boba Fett movie? That would be something! Yes, wishful thinking I know. They'd more likely cast some muscle head like Dwayne the rock johnson. Or maybe a middle ground would be Michael Fasbender, if he could give up time being the new magneto. He'd make a great Boba too.

SC, you are absolutely right, and we as fans have every reason to be nervous but with Kathy Kennedy as the new George Lucas, I truly think we will see at least an initial batch of incredible films.

I recently read the Han Solo trilogy which takes place in the same time period, I think, and serves as a perfect origin story for Han. It also features Boba Fett and shows why he sin't all that fond of Han. It shows how Jabba came to power and how "Han screwed him over". I think it would be the best way to do a Han origin movie.

My biggest concern with this is that they will intermingle these stand-alone films with the new trilogy.  I think that would be a bit of shaky ground.  You very well could end up with a portion of the "average" movie going public completely confused why this new star wars movies seems to have nothing to do with the Episode VII they just watched last year.  They'd better market things well.

I think I am still in a bit of shock though.  6 movies release between 1977 and 2005 and now we have 5 new movies confirmed in the works.  Hopefully this is a good thing, but I don't think any fan would blame another fan for being nervous lol

 Actually I blame you.
